Question about Samson C01U Consumer Microphone

Why does my computer tell me my cou1 mic has malfunctioned everytime I plug it into the usb port?

My computer will not recognize my samson cou1 microphone. It says my mic malfunctioned and is not recognized. It also reports code 43. Sometimes the mic will randomly start working then go back to that same message.

Sounds like a defective mic. Test it on another computer, with another USB cable, and if it still doesn't work, call customer service and they'll send a replacement.

probably you deleted a driver or something ..but the fact that it works in another computer it is a good thing ...It means that the device itself has no problems ..and the issue is something missing from your computer ..
If it is a Xp I suggest to make a system restore and go back to an earlier date when you know for sure that the MIc was working ..
to do that ..just go to system on the control panel ..and after that sytem restore..choose a highlighted date when you are sure it worked..and go for it ..It will change nothing but settings and bring back certain drivers..
if you do not manage from system in the panel ..go to start /all programs./..accessories./.system tools/ system restore..
anyway ..even if this will not work ..after you will reinstall the computer it will ...It may be a cause of other nature..like certain files deleted from system 32 of windows by the antivirus (or quarantined )..and the lack of them make the mic unknown device..
If you have a driver disk that came with it ..run it and will be ok ..if you do not have at least try on the support page and see if they have a driver ..
another issue may be the USB plug ..or the lack of usb 2.0 driver in the computer ..
I will try to see if it requires a driver ..but if it came without a disk it means that it must be seen by the pc and the issue is with the operation system at this moment ..

This has also happened to me. The cable has randomly stopped supplying power. Please help, admins!! It isn't BROKEN is it?

1. Did you select Left channel only in Audacity for the track you're recording?
2. Maybe it's a defective mic. Try it on another computer/software/USB cable/USB port and if it still doesn't work get Samson to replace it.

A condenser mic. requires "phantom power" usually supplied by a mixing desk. Without this, there will be no output signal from the mic.

You cannot download anything like that from xbox live have you tried different ports on your xbox to rule out a problem just one usb slot? Have you tried putting somethign else into the usb slot to see if that works i.e. pen drive with some pictures then see if you can viewthem from the dashboard

Samson C01U USB mic not working on my PC.

try this;

1.using different usb inputs on your pc desk top
2.update drivers on both your desk top and laptop
3.using a different usb cable

if it works fine on your friends computer most likely its not the mic

SAMSON CO1U recordings sound like they're underwater on my MAC

The behavior you describe suggests that the mic is not getting power. Since it is a condenser mic, it requires what is usually called "phantom power". This should be provided thru the USB port. Check to be sure that the USB port is supplying that power. Check with another port for example. If that fails, you may have a defective mic.

Mic won't power up

How do you know it's not powering up? Does the LED light? Does it show up in Device Manager? If not, it's probably defective. Contact Samson and they'll send you a replacement.

Have you tried another USB cable? Failing that, can you try the mic on another computer, take it round to your friends house or something?

If it still misbehaves, it's obviously gone faulty and needs fixing. Get in touch with the retailer or Samson support.
