SOURCE: Will Pentair Intelliflo pump save me enough money to justify cost

Here are a couple of thoughts. If you install an intelliflo pump and run it for the same amount of time and at the same rpm as your current pump, you will still have a savings. If you drop the rpms by 1k, you will have an exponential savings. Go to the pentair website and use the program to estimate your actual savings. You can still run the heater at a reduced flow setting but there is a limit, you have to check with the heater manufacturer to see what the minimum is.

If you are running a conventional pump 24/7 you are using a ton of energy. You should be able to run the pump for 8 hours a day and achieve the same results. For instance, running the pump from 4am to noon should give you a good window to maintain the heat and not run it all the time. It also depends on if you have a cover on your pool when it's not in use. If you don't, you will lose significant heat when it's not running, however, running it early morning should give it a chance to heat back up before you want to use it again. You will have to experiment with timer settings, etc..

I really do think the intelliflo pump is a great pump. The rare earth magnet design allows it to be way more efficient than the conventional pump. It is so much more efficient that when it's running, you can hold your hand on the motor and it is just warm. Your pump motor probably runs very hot, heat is a by product of inefficiency. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have intelliflo VS+SVRS pool

There is either something blocking the suction side of this pump (blocked valve, strainer, strainer basket, leaves on main drain.) or the pump is not getting primed in the aloted amount of time. You can increase the priming time on the pump, or manually prime it, or just turn off the svrs feature temporarily until you get a good prime again. If you need the manual to figure out how to do these things, here is the link.

My pentair intelliflo 011018 won't show me settings on led panel any more, but everything else is ok. Have to manually start and stop?

You will need to replace the drive. The drives are not an item that can be repaired. How old is the Intelliflo? Your pool guy should be able to help you with a replacement. If you are a DIY type person here are some links to replacement drives.

I would make sure that you call and confirm that you have a VF or a VS pump. F=flow and S=speed. Also make sure you do not have SVRS vacuum entrapment protection built in to the drive. If you do you'll need to contact Pentair directly.

Key not in use

Yellow is the color to let you know that there is power to the pump, witch allows the pump to run according to your predefined start up settings. If you turn the power to the Pump off, the yellow light goes out, and after 72 hours, you will lose your pre determined startup settings.

How did you test for power? Is it proper amount of power?
Did you use a multimeter to test for proper supply power/voltage?

I have a pentair intelliflo 4 x 160. It was running, I turned it off to clean my DE filter, I tryed to start it right after I put the filter back to gether, it turned just a second then the alarm light...

Check the wiring connections, and count how many times the alarm light blinks upon start up. It is probably a loose or broken connection, but the alarm blinks will give us more information to go on if its not.
I install these regularly for 3 years and the only time I saw this incident was when I had a bad connection inside the J-box.
