I want to ask a good question on Fixya, but I am not sure how to optimize my question asking?

It seems the way a user asks changes from week to week. Its very confusing. Can any one give me tips to ask the best questions? do we get more points for asking better questions? I really want to know, thanks!

1 - First, choose your forum carefully. Don't ask about the best type of flea collar for your pet in a Dell tech support forum. Making sure you're in the right place increases the chances your question will be read and answered.

2 - Be specific about what you want to know. Saying "How do I fix my computer" is far too general. Asking "What should I do when my computer won't read DVDs?" is specific.

3 - Include the details! Tell us what make/model/etc of device you have, and whether its had any past problems, upgrades, etc. Sometimes this is related. If you're not sure whether a particular detail is relevant or not, include it anyway.

There are more, but if you remember these three simple things you should be well on your way to posting good messages and getting good replies.

Hello..is this where i ask questions for MAXX products

You appear to have three Posts asking about MAXX. Better to have one Question giving all the information.

Steve Pack has given you the answer. Here is another, but note, we are FIXYA not MAXX. Bases seem easy to find.

My name is Allen Mohs. I ordered a 16gb extrapc about a week ago. I have not received a shipping notice yet. Can you give me an update on this order?

Unfortunately you have asked FIXYA users about an order.

FIXYA doesn't sell anything at all, and doesn't take orders.

Please ask a trusted family member or trustworthy friend to help in learning how to use the internet.

Regards.

Make sure you have updated your ebay password. Last week they started asking users to reset their passwords because of a cyberattack that compromised a database containing encrypted passwords and other non-financial data.

Hope that helps!

Hey How on FIXYA can i keep track of people i've asked for clarification on a fault there experiencing? i ask for clarification on something and i can't seem to track that person/problem down again to...

Doesn't FixYa send e-mail when there's a new comment or whatever on a topic? I has to me, at any rate...that would be in your contact settings. That's not to say I find FixYa canny at the moment, but getting less stuff than from eBay is kind of a sign of a good thing (kind of not; who knows when Goldman-Saks is going to say FixYa is worth a 6 1/6 Billion market cap 'this week'.)

I had a question answered, but I need a copy of answer sent to my E-mail, since I need to wait until someone can come over to help me remove the cartridge

Did you use a different ID on FIXYA to post your question?

See: http://www.fixya.com/users/marylmassie

The 'marylmassie' ID has only asked ONE question, namely this one.

In: http://www.fixya.com/users/marylmassie
change 'marylmassie' to the ID that you used when you asked the other question.

How to change rating in chat

Hey ID

Not sure, if they go into the my profile page then scroll down to the chatsessions, there is a write review button on eatch one, useing that button they might be able to change it but it also might be grayed out since they have already given a review.

By the way, I saw you post this into a premium
  • "FixYa!" - The solution provides great advice on how to solve the problem.
  • "Helpful" - The solution provides useful leads that helps solve the problem.
  • "Thanks for Trying" - The solution does not solve the problem but the effort is appreciated.
  • "Inappropriate" - The solution has absolutely nothing to do with the problem.

  • Good but

Thats only for free solutions, the premiums have difrent buttons. So that can confuse the user, just a thought. (accept, ask and something else if I remember right, accept = fixya rateing)

Still about the rateing they should be able to contact [email protected] (Check the address that might be wrong) and ask to have the chat rerated. or unrated so they can rate it again.

AOL Optimized PC - desktop acting odd

Hi I'm not sure how to change it but I have a suggestion that might work. Here are the steps to try: Go to START then RUN type in msconfig In the next window that pops up, select STARTUP tab Check in there and see if any startup item belongs to aol. Uncheck all those belonging to aol. Click apply, then click Close. It will ask to restart. Click on restart and see if it still happens when it loads up windows again. Good Luck Lolita
