Bottom 4 inches of my mitsubishi 65" rear projection tv is distorted. it seems like the colors aren't correct in this area. the rest of the picture is great. Justin

LOOK AT ATTACHED PHOTOS AND TELL ME IF THEY LOOK FAMILIAR.

THE MODEL INDICATED USES TWO of the STK-392-570 CONVERGENCE CHIPS.

I have step by step, start to finish instructions for this repair in this set. It involves getting the middle circuit board out of the set and replacing the two chips.

Total parts cost on EBAY WILL BE UNDER 25 DOLLARS AND repair takes on average about a hour--I have done hundreds of these sets and if you are doing it for the first time it may take longer.

The instructions tell you everything you will need and how to do the repair from start to finish and they are free.

If the information helped you, rate this solution as "very helpful: as I do this here for free.

If you want the instructions let me know and I will post them here for you for free. I will assist you from start to finish if you attempt the repair.

NO TWO SETS WILL LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW IF WHAT THESE PICTURES SHOW IS YOUR PROBLEM.

Blue and red colours separating

Hi, before I can help you, I need to know a few things like the brand and model of the TV. But I can tell you that either you need to realign your tv's convergence, or you need to replace the Convergence IC's and a few resistors. There are not to many parts in a Projection TV. From my experience, and depending how bad they are seperated, one of those two things are it.

XBOX 360 to Samsung HCM5525W high def convergence issue.

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs. To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as Tv Repair Kits to get a repair kit with instructions. Here is there link.

They have put together complete kits for most models that include the parts, step by step photo instructions, repair assistance, etc.

Toshiba big screen The tv is like double exposed . I have a toshiba big screen tv and I have double images in red and green. How do I fix this problem?

This is likely your convergence ICs(chips). If you can bump it then the ICs (chips) are still ok, it just needs resoldering.
my company charges $300-400 for the full repair (replacing ICs, full realignment plus cleaning)
if you can find a company that will resolder for you, it could cost $100-200 maybe. if you are a handy person with soldering skills, you could repair yourself. i can instruct if needed, but convergence IC soldering requires decent soldering skills. you will find the ICs on the largest heatsink in the tv. the part number starts with STK. if you replace them, check the resistors in front of them and replace accordingly. most toshiba will blow up to 3 fuses (f850, f851, f852)

Double shadows

requires a service call to be realigned ,your convergence ic's have lost their settings from the eeprom ic(memory),look in your menu settings to see if you have auto-focus if there activate it and if the ic;s are still ok it should fix it.

Hitachi 43FDX01B Green Line Not Alligned

If you slap the set on the side and the colors shift and dont line up, it is most likely that one of your convergence IC's has cracked solder joints. It is also possible that the IC has burned out. The convergence IC's will have to be resoldered and possibly replaced, and that should be done by someone with experience in repairing and realigning convergence circuits in projection TV's.

One of the convergence output IC's has stopped working and needs to be replaced. If the IC shorts out then it will draw too much current and possibly blow a fuse, and the set will shut down to protect itself. The IC should be replaced and the set realigned by someone with experience in convergence circuits.

Screen seems to flip

All the symptoms in your tv point to a convergence problem, the unit has 3 amplifiers one for each color, this amplifier IC's need to be replaced and then realign the colors, sometimes just by replacing the Ic's you are able to realign the color with the remote but sometimes they need to be realign from the service menu. You can identify the IC's because they are mounted in heatsinks and by its marking,in the front they have STK--- ---,6 numbers after the letters, their size is about 2.5 " long and 1.5" wide with a row of pins solder to the main board. If you are familiar with tv service this information will help but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for assistance from a servicer.
