Tractor shuts of PTO and stalls when lowering rototiller. Can recover from complete stall by disengaging pto. What is causing this?

The PTO usually has a clutch that has to be engaged so that you can select the PTO rotation setting. I had a problem like that on my tractor and all it needed was a little adjustment on the PTO clutch lever, so it could disengage the PTO gearbox properly.

The most likely problem is the pto solenoid valve on the rear of the tractor. It could be the speed sensor but you won't know until you get the codes read by the dealer.I have had to replace the b.c.u. for this problem but it is not common.

This is common for the 70 series.Clutch dics are stuck together, just short of splitting tractor you have to hit a pile of dirt with loader bucket to see if you can break it loose.

its likely to be a switch playing you up try hard wireing the switch to see if it stops this cutting out first, do one switch at a time till you fine the one playing up

Park brake switch is the most likely culprit, any other would cause the tractor to not turn over in the crank position.
