TV USB Input - Displays mp4 video from laptop?

Now that televisions are being supplied with USB 2.0 inputs, can you confirm they will display (with sound) mpeg-4 video files from a computer by using a USB connection. If this is so, would this be true for all televisions that come with USB 2.0 input port or can the USB display options vary among televisions? Thanks.

Also:
try resetting via the side button with the unit on.

Hi I have a l32wd12 r a TV and it will not turn on

If the clock is on then the unit is receiving power; maybe the external input feature (which tells the TV which outside source to display on the screen, e.g. cable TV, DVD player, VCR player, etc.) is not set to display the TV channels. On my Sony TV there is a button that displays TV setting options (e.g., Favorites, TV List, External inputs and settings). The external inputs function displays the options as video 1, video 2, etc., right up to video 6. My video 3 is for the VCR, video 4 is for the DVD, and video 5 is for the cable TV channels. If the TV is set for say video 3 and nothing is playing on the VCR, the screen will be dark (almost as though the TV is off). Your solution might be as simple as choosing the right external (video) input for the TV to receive the channel signals.

How do i change the input

The 27" TV uses the same instructions as the 20", and I found the manual for you at the link below. Answering your question directly, here is the section of the instructions about changing input:
-----
Changing the TV's Input Normally, your TV displays the signal coming through the antenna terminal. However, if you've connected another component to your TV(such as a VCR & DVD) using the Video/Audio input, you will want to be able to view the signal from the component. To do this, you will need to switch from the ' TV ' input to the 'AV1-AV3, CVI' Input, as follows. 1 With the TV on, press the MENU button twice, then " Set-Up " menu will appear. 2 Use the WCHV buttons to select " Input ". 3 Press the CVOLB buttons to change the input source from ' TV ' to 'AV1, AV2, AV3, CVI'. 4 Wait 20 seconds, or press DISPLAY button or MENU button to return to normal TV viewing. * CVI means the Component Video Input (Y/ PB/ PR) from the DVD player etc.* Users can also select these input modes with the TV/AV button or the INPUT button on theremote controller. * On the AV1 mode , if you connect the S-VHS jack to your TV, "AV1" is changed to "S-VIDEO".

Trying to connect laptop to my Sony kdl-40S2010 TV. I get image on laptop but nothing on TV. How do I set input on my Sony (there's no input button)?

Hi!

First let's be sure that video signal is coming out of your laptop. You did nor mention your laptop make/model and the connection cable type you are using between laptop and TV (VGA or HDMI or S-Video ). I'll assume it is a common VGA cable.
Now, on every laptop the user can choose where the image is displayed: on the laptop only, on the external monitor/TV/projector or on both displays. This can be done by pressing the Fn key toghether with one of the F1 to F12 keys. Usualy it is Fn and F5, but other laptops use other key instead of F5. (please check the icons on your Fx keys, there must be something like two displays side by side). Each time the keys combination is pressed, the image switches between the 3 positions: only laptop, only external, or both displays.

Please let me know if it helped.

If you are using something else than VGA cable, please post again also mentioning what type of laptop you have.

Regards,

Bogdan

My sony trinitrion always displays the video input. Who used to faed away, but is now staying on all the time. Doesn't matter if it's input 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Turned off and unplugged but still displays all...

Using the TV's remote and having the TV on,
hold down the "reset" button and manually turn off the TV directly from the unit.(not the remote)
Release the "reset" button.
Turn the TV back on-directly from the unit.(not the remote)
A dialog box will appear on your screen.
Choose "Auto" by pushing the + on Channel Selection button on the unit (not the remote).
Use the TV/DVD selection to return to your cable input.

Fujitsu plasma tv is on but no picture on screen. monitor screen seems to work as it displays the "video input", but there's no picture

Check all inputs. Are they all dead. Try other signal source. Does antenna input work when connected to known good source?Vide input label being displayed indicates most of the tv is working. You need to determine if you have lost signal in the video input.

I can't get the channel select to go to av input or video input

A universal remote in most cases can not switch this TV into the AV mode...you can but a orignal replacment remote for your TV At www.remotes.com and then you can use all the functions again!
That will fix ya!
