Hi, i have 1995 buick regal 3.8 v6 sedan, and here is the problem...when coming to a stop not every time but some, the rpms go up and down and it shuts off, power steering, lights the whole shebang, however i either throw it in neutral or park and it starts back up everytime...its really just unsafe more than anything. Ive been told ignition module which i replaced, didnt fix the problem. Things i havent spent money on to fix that i have also been told ot could be is map sensor, o2 sensor and the torque converter. Any suggestions please help its at about 180k, and i have done so much current work to it i dont feel like ptting more in tryong to figure out this major problem that has been happening for 3 years.

Doesn't sound as though you have ever attempted
to find a shop that can actually test a vehicle

The places you go to, just throw parts at it,
& never actually find any problems

If your going to throw away money, a dealer could have
fixed it 3 years ago on one visit

I have got it coded and it threw up a catalac converter code which i highly doubt it is. I have visited transmission shops which both advised the ignition module, which obviously wasnt it.

You have to diagnose & resolve All code related issues as they come up Transmission Shops seldom don anything but trans work

Have a 1995 Buick Regal. Car stalls when braking at a stop sign or braking into a left or right turn.RPMs drop to 500 then stalls without warning.Car starts right up with no problem and runs great.

Do you hear a sucking noise from under the hood when you apply the brakes? You could have a bad brake booster venting too much engine vacuum when applying the brakes causing the engine to die.

Hi,
You need to get your engine coolant thermistor checked and tested. This is what tells the ECM when the engine temperature is at normal working temperature and turns the idle down.
But when the idle won't come down from cold to warm this is usually the main fault.
Hope this helps.

i think you might be right it sounds like your engine is getting over fed fuel you are probably not getting very good fuel mileage either the 3.8 and 5.0 would defintely require the same volume of fuel it is probably playing havoc on the pressure regulators i would get another fuel pump and start there

It is not that hard. It will be time consuming. You will have to remove all of the tie downs and pull it through the fire wall grommet.
