SOURCE: my salt is high, does this cause pool water to
t is too high, the generator shuts off so no chlorine is being created; hence the green pool. Drain water and add fresh until the salt level is diluted back to the range your generator manufacturer suggests and your chlorine will return. In the mean time, shock the pool to get rid of the algae and the generator should be able to maintain it from there.

Your salt is way to high if you can taste it. You will need to dilute with fresh water until you get the salt back down and then clean the cell for continued use.

You have too much salt in the pool ...dump some water.
You have too much CL in the pool ... turn off your cell ... add some chlorine killer if necessary. The sun will eat new CL pretty fast.
You have metal in the water ... the CL aggrivates the metal, turns the water green ... If your pool were plaster, you would be in danger of serious staining.
You may have some alg. but I doubt it with all the stuff you have inthe pool
Check the source of your information.
Here is what you should consider ...
Fill the pool ... get rid of the metal ... 3 oz per 1000 gallons is the recommended dose ... NO CL for two days. Metal out works best when there is no CL in the water.
Get the TA under control and the pH. With the TA at 100 and pH at 7.4, bring the CL up to 2 or 3 ppm. You don't need CA ... but you might want to add some for comfort purposes. You might want to add cynauric acid to about 35 ppm to protect the CL. CA and cynauric acid are not consumable ... if you have a lot and want to get rid of it ... the only way is to add fresh water.
