Its the doorcatch,turn power off, remove lid and put hand in machine where doorlock is situated feel about and try open catch, repair or replace?

More than likely the heater element has failed.
This is located at the rear of the washer drum.
It means removing the rear half of the cabinet to access it.

The drier won't heat up and it flashes up a number (I'll check tonight again what the number is). it washes fine but won't dry. It is a Zanussi Jetsystem Turbodry 1200.

What is E 40 on Zanussi Turbodry 1200?

E40 indicates the doors not closed properly. Sometimes it can be the lock itself or the main control board

possibly a foreign object in pump.
tilt backwards at a good angle and remove pump. i find the easiest way to do this is to undo the 3 screws round the periphery of the pump

Zanussi Turbodry jetsystem 1200

hiya
e90 means there is a communication error between the circuit boards inside. remove the plug then take the lid off the machine, remove the block which has the 5 (iirc) blue wires in it and give it a quick squeeze then replace, this should hopefully solve your problem.
