SOURCE: speaker wire for subwoofer

Usually, a subwoofer will have its own built-in power amplifier. Thus, it will be designed to plug into a standard RCA jack (the type used for DVD players, etc). rather than having wires to connect to a speaker terminal block. Look for a jack on the back of the receiver called "Subwoofer", or simply "SW". If your subwoofer has 2 single wires, it WON'T work with your reveiver's subwoofer output, as this output only carries a line-level signal and is not amplified. You would need a separate power amplifier for this type of SW. If your SW speaker has a DVD-type plug, it should work fine with the receiver's SW output jack.

SOURCE: JVC RX-888V hook up to cable box - no video

There is some sort of setting you need to change on the JVC receiver. I had this same problem, and I read the manual and it solved it. You need to press and hold down a button to change the mode. Your unit probably says "TV Sound" right now. Once you press this button (not sure what button) like the manual says, the display should change to "DBS" and then it should work just fne.

I have a JVC RX 817 receiver. I have power, but no sound function. Can someone help me?

Unless you are an electronics engineer, it is unlikely you can fix. Look on the back for a fuse holder. If there is check it with a multimeter. It may be protecting the audio parts. Make sure you don't have a button press for a different audio source than what you think and also check if you have switchable speaker outputs. Finally make sure the speakers are connected and the dog hasn't pulled them out.

JVC RX-888V 5.1 Channels Receiver can not get the rear speakers to work at all. switched the wires from back to front and they work so the speakers and the wires are OK. tried to press all the buttons and...

If you can via experimentation confirm that your amps are ok then the issue lies with the Dolby IC chip that controls the various sound modes. It went on my Pioneer and I had hassles getting the various speakers to work properly under different sound modes. Replacement, not cheap, cured my issue.

Rear speakers are dead, never got them to work. Changed front to back and rears work so speakers and wireing are good. Is it possible that because I did not hook up a center speaker this is the problem?

if its a 5.1 channels it means 2 front speakers,2 rear speakers or either the center speaker or the subwoofer.try to hook up either center speaker or subwoofer.
