Check your interference eliminator code. It must match on both radios.

Best regards.

We have a set of 6 XTR446 about 2.5 years old. 3 of the handsets are (for no apparent reason) displaying the little handset icon permanently and not operating (either to receive or transmit). One of the...

In order to reset the radio, power on while pressing both volume buttons (+ and -) together with the PTT (speak) button, until you year a high-pitched tone.

But I have found that the "stuck on receive" problem is related to the battery voltage: non-rechargable AAA or incorrectly charged batteries can give 0.2-1.0V above the nominal voltage. Try to leave the radio on for a few hours or replace some of the four AAA batteries with slightly exhausted ones and see if that helps.

The 'mute' button is on the radio and I can't get it off. The model of the radio is Motorola XTR446. Thanks

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Business/Products/Two-Way%20Radios%20-%20Unlicensed/_Documents/XTR446/Static%20Files/XTR%20Manual%20EU.pdf?localeId=103

The XTR446 does not have "mute". But what you might be experiencing is a problem with the radios matching one another completely, such as the "interference code" being set differently among the radios. Check your frequency and code to see that they match the other radios exactly. Also, check your radio's mic hole for dust, dirt or debris. This can mute/muffle transmissions.

If this does not solve the problem, you may have a radio in need of repair.

My motorola xtr446 has an icon stuck on it and no one else can hear me when i speak out? how do i get rid of the icon? the icon is a mini walkie talkie

The mini walkie talkie emblem has a variety of meanings. If the emblem has parenthese around it your PTT (push to talk) button is depressed, stuck or partially depressed. If the emblem does not have parenthese your radio is in receive mode, awaiting a call.

It is possible you do not have your radio programmed identical to the other radio(s). Your frequency and interference code eliminator must be identical to those used in the other radios. Here is a link to the manual where you can check this http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Business/Products/Two-Way%20Radios%20-%20Unlicensed/_Documents/XTR446/Static%20Files/XTR%20Manual%20EU.pdf?localeId=103 Look around page 7 for instructions.

Also, if you find your radios are programmed identically, the other problem might be bad or low batteries, as it takes more energy to transmit than to receive.

Best regards.

Will energizer rechargeable batteries charge in a motorola xtr 446 while in it's charger?

No. Different technology. The charger which comes with the XTR446 is only for the NiMH battery which originally comes with the radio. (Sorry)

Walkie talkie symbol stuck on cannot remove it

The symbol you are describing indicates you have the radio on HI power. It will not go away unless you reprogram the radio to LOW power, or change to a low power channel. My motorola xtr446 is stuck in monotor mode. Is there a key sequence to factory reset the radio ?

Here is a link to a page with the XTR manuals. http://www.tedmontgomery.com/tutorial/altchrc.html You will need to click on the SUPPORT tab, then choose the appropriate user guide for your radio and language.

Check your Frequency, Code and Qt Filter (if any) to be certain they all match one another. For simple operations set the Code and Qt to zero (off).

Best regards.

Refer to page 41.

This may help you resolve your issue. Best regards.
