Sounds like the battery you bought is faulty. I know a good site you can buy a good quality battery from that has more MAH then regular batteries so you will get more usage (hours/minutes) out of it. The website is www.needbattery.com
Thier batteries are guaranteed for a year. i bought a battery from them and never had any problems with it. Thier prices were also the cheapest I could find on and off the internet. I hop this helps.

I removed the memory card and reformatted. Camera now powers up and works great.
Wipe the battery connections - and the cameras - that just might work

my camera was in my bag in a case and i went to use it about and hour after the last use and the battery is fully charged, but the camera does not power up! what do i do!
