Performa PAVT910AWW problem strange humming noise and wont work r

Ok...something is wrong with my washing machine, performa PAVT910AWW. Ill turn it on to wash a load but after it fills it will do nothen but make this humming like niose(electrical sounding) so Ill fool around with the dail setting and most of the time it will do the same thing(noise) and after awhile Ill set it on rinse and it will rinse..if I leave it alone for about 30 minutes it will work ok for a rinse or whatever its set on but after its done it will not go into the next stage of wash. Could it be the capacitor?
