On the GPS Garmin the radar screen shows our boat turned the wrong way. How do you turn the boat around on screen?

Perhaps nothing.

Does the GPS turn on and go into usb mode when plugged into your MAC? If not, it is probably a driver issue if the GPS works normally in your vehicle. You might try the Communicator Plugin for MAC. https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3739

Your GPS requires servicing. There may be an intermittent power supply to or in the device.

The nuvi is being put into mass storage mode (the mode used to transfer data back and forth to a computer). This is usually caused by using the wrong vehicle power cable.
The correct cable is Garmin part number 010-10723-06.

I don't beleive this is goning to fix your problem. Open the dome and visually check that it is spinning. There is a maintenance menu though. To open the maintenance menu;
1. Turn the radar on.
2. Wait until the initial screen appears, then press and hold UP and DOWN keys together.
3. In about 10 seconds, the maintenance menu as shown below will appear.
4. Press MENU key to close the menu.

Call Garmin customer service, they are wonderful. My rubber thing around the outside became loose,and they sent me a new unit, even though it was almost 2 years old.

yes the cable should be replaced if you are lucky, the unit is still OK (display) Try the new cable, draped across the boat before rigging. If fault exists with new cable, replace system, or find a new display on ebay

Hi, 673king, My Garmin is c330, but I think that all GPS's of this nature are programmed only for roads -- not bodies of water. I haven't updated my 2-yr.-old-Garmin yet for new maps, but what you describe concerning the red question mark is exactly what I get when I am on a road that was constructed after my Garmin was programmed. Since the GPS can't find the road in its memory, it merely has a red question mark until I get onto a road that the software recognizes. It then operates as usual.

This is a common problem if the GPS is hooked up to an electronic heading sensor such as an autopilot. If the heading sensor is not calibrated properly, the boat will appear to be facing the wrong direction.

If you have an autopilot, consult the installation guide and perform the sea trial procedures. That should get your boat lined up properly.
