I jump into my car and input directions to her friends house. All of a sudden my GPS 755T is telling me that it is trying to update the firmware. I press ok. it displayed 1% said done and it couldn't find the Satellites. I was like WTH and turned it off and back on. It stated Cannot find Satellites. I was like ok, let me keep it on the charger 12V Cigarrette lighter. I thought it would start working while we drive and my wife was trying to turn it on but the screen went black and now I'm pissed because I just brought this thing. I went to Garmin's web page but there was nothing informative. I guessing something happened when this Firmware was trying to download into my unit. It must have killed something. It is now 10:27pm June 24th and I'm just surfing the net looking for similar experiences. now I know I'm not the only one. GARMIN WHAT HAPPENED????
Just received this from Garmin
Mandatory Software Update
Today, Garmin released a free, mandatory GPS software update to correct a software issue that has been discovered to cause the nuvi 7x5 devices to repeatedly attempt to update GPS firmware, and then either shut down or no longer acquire GPS satellite signals.
Garmin nüvi 7x5 series products that are no longer able to acquire a GPS satellite signal may download a firmware update immediately that will correct the software issue. This firmware update may be downloaded using Garmin's WebUpdater program.
Garmin nüvi 7x5 customers who are no longer able to power on their GPS device will need to visit www.garmin.com/support, and select the first FAQ titled "My nüvi 755T, 765T, 775T or 785T is giving me the message 'Updating GPS Firmware' or will no longer power on..." Customers will then need to follow the instructions to request a return authorization so that the device may be repaired under warranty.
We know our customers rely upon their Garmin GPS device(s), especially during the summer travel season, and we regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused. We are committed to developing products that are known for their quality and reliability and will continue to work diligently to earn the trust of our customers.

If you don't want to send it to garmin, take the two screws out of the bottom with a t5 torx bit. Gently pry unit apart with finger nails. Unhook battery wires from circuit board for 10 seconds, then hook the wires back up. Put unit back together. Turn unit on and hook up to computer and run the garmin web updater. Install the fix from garmin. I've done this to mine and have had no problems since. Good luck.
