1st your get a 1 gig memory stick and an a extra battery, then you make the battery a pandora, either by hard modding it or buying a low volt pandora from internet. then you download a file onto your psp memory stick google "magic memory stick" it should contain a new firmware either custom or ofw. then you put your pandora battery in the psp with the mem stick, then turn on the psp while holding one of the recovery buttons on my psp 1001 its the right bumper. hold that till you get the recovery menu then you should see an option that says "Install Custom firmware" or "Install Original Firmware" select the one you want, then bam your flashed files that are needed to run your psp is back on your flash 0, plus if you wanna download free psp games and roms your able to run them on your new modded psp but you have to select CFW in order to run mods.
PSP automatically charge itself when you connect the USB cable from the PSP to your computers USB port you should see the power light change from green to orange that is a sign of a charging state and if that did not happen connect the PSP on a different USB port on your computer because sometimes some USB port supplies less amount of power.
hey... how old exactly is your psp 1001? i have a friend with the same problem.. turns out something happened to his psp... something happened or that he did something accidentally to his psp...i don't if this is any help but he always played his psp 24/7 and never stopped.. it was always on.. but now sometimes his psp doesn;t produce any sound anymore... try to take your psp back to sony for a repair.
maby you need to recharge it? and if not it is a mechanical prob so the only thing thers todo sit with the cable and play when its connected in...GL Richie
with the PSP being dropped, keep in mind that you might have a cracked board. Best thing to do if you have the tools is to open it and see if there are any cracks in the board, if there isnt' then look for loose cables and reseat them and see what happens.
If you still can't get the psp to turn on then the board is still bad and would need to be replaced or to get a new PSP.
