It mkes coffee and water comes out of the steam wand but it's cold.Does the it have a heating element that could go out?
SOURCE: My Krups XP4050 frother heats and makes bubbles but no froth
It doesn't froth because the air hole in the frother has become plugged with dried milk (cream). There are two types of frother - old one was a black rubber nipple with a stainless 2-3inch air tube rising above the milk. The plastic insert has a pin hole (really about the size of a straight pin!) that clogs. Use a sewing needle or straight pin to clear it.
SOURCE: no water through the head!!
I had the same problem - all water going down into the tray at the bottom - virtually none through the coffer basket. I couldn't find citric acid at the store to descale so I used white vinegar instead. I 3/4 filled the reservoir with warm water, and added about 1/2-2/3 cup of vinegar. I first ran water through the 'hot water' button (it comes out the steam spout). Then I ran the entire reservoir through the machine using the 2-cups option. It started running right away. I rinsed out the reservoir with fresh water, then ran a whole reservoir of fresh water through the machine to get rid of the vinegar smell. The first cup of espresso after this treatment was as good as ever. Phew! I thought we were up for a new machine!
SOURCE: Krups model KM7005 water wont heat
Mine had the same problem ... all the lights are on, but no heating on the plate, and no dripping of water.
After a weekend on the workbench, I've mastered this machine. The KM7005 has 2 x MicroTemp G4 thermal cutoff (TCO) fuses which interrupt the Live line, for overheat protection. Mine didn't overheat per se, but the TCO blew anyway. Not reset-able ... need to be replaced with a soldering iron. I'll be happy to advise you to fix this, or fix it for you.
