June 22, 2009 Dear Person, I have an HP-Compaq laptop computer, business model nx9010, s/n CNF3520KL4, with a failed hard drive. I am unable to remove the drive. I have removed the three (3) visible screws inside but it won?t move. There are several steel bands behind the plastic cover. The web page of Compaq?s service section says there are four (4) screws. My only experience is with desk top machines. Can you help me? Thank you for your efforts. Howard Williams E-mail address is [email protected]

1. Unplug the AC adapter, if present, and then remove the battery.
2. On the bottom of the notebook, remove the hard disk drive rubber screw plugs and
M2.5×6.0mm screws. (The number of plugs and screws varies by model).
3. Carefully pull the hard disk drive out of the notebook.
4. Remove the four M3.0×4.0mm screws from the hard disk drive and hard disk drive tray,
and then lift the drive out of the tray.
5. Remove the connector bar from the hard disk drive.
The manual does have little picture to help you. The link above is to download the service manual.

This model laptop is installed with an IDE 40Gb hard drive.
You can use a faster hard drive but the BIOS limits the maximum size hard drive you can install.
Check the specification of this laptop for the maximum size hard drive you can install.

Remove floppy drive compaq nx9010

You can try the link below. It should have a breakdown diagram. If I may ask why, I'm a computer tech, and I've only used my floppy drive two times in the last three year, and that was to make a bios flah for a couple of ancient machines. Your laptop is relatively new.
