I have a question about possible problem with this unit. It's approximately one year old, worked great and periodic cleaning has been done per instructions however, now the blue light is flashing on the speed control side of the unit. It continues to flash even if the unit is in the off position, in "GP On" or simply on. Any ideas as the flashing will not stop until unit is completely disconnected from the power source?
I don't mean to be snide, but I decided that it wasn't worth all the stress -- so I tossed mine in the disposal bin about three months ago, and I'm much better for not seeing it around. Just a lesson learned the hard way about badly made products from a company that risked and lost its reputation.
I wonder how many others are having this problem? It sounds like the wiring "went out" about the same time on all of these. Strange how it went bad just after the warranty ran out too. Something is fishy here. Planned obselescence? Anyone know a good attorney. Sounds like a good class action suit. I have two units. Bought them at the same time and both started flashing at the same time.

About Ionic breeze purifier, I want to call attention on the fact that they are not
being manufactured anymore because of heath concerns. New model use a
completely different technology. Parts are also not distributed anymore.
I suggest replacing the ionic purifier with a different air purifier.

I am having the same problem with my Ionic Breeze Professional GP Plus unit. After finding this site I did some more searching and found this site which sells a "guaranteed or your money back" repair kit. http://breezerepair.com/products.html According to the site, the owner is a former Repair Tech at Sharper Image. The kit includes basic cleaning supplies, something called "Drive Wire Abrasive" and step by step instructions to fix the unit. No special electrical or mechanical parts are listed and the site says no electronics experience is necessary.
I have a general knowledge of electronics repair and disassembled my unit. I didn't find any obvious damage and gave the unit a good cleaning with CRC electronic connection quick dry spray cleaner. I put the unti back together and nothing. Same flashing blue light & otherwise dead unit.
I'd like to talk with someone who has purchased the repair kit and find out if it really works and just what exactly is involved. If you have tried it or decide to try it please post a solution and let me know if it works. I'll do the same.

I had the same problem and found a solution.
Sharper Image was bought out by another company and they have a customer service # 866-686-2463.
They will not replace a defective ionic breeze but they will reimburse you the money if it is still under warranty.
I called customer service and they said that means the wiring in is is defective.

I just purchased my unit three days ago, and it started with the blue light flashing after it had been running for a couple of hours. I turned it off for a couple of hours then restarted it. Same thing.

Mine have the same flashing light symptom, started about 7 months after purchase. Sharper Image has replaced the units under warranty, no problem, but they were pretty tight-lipped about why this was happening. We have cleaned to no avail, dunno what else to try.

Same problem, and Sharper Image I hear is bankrupt. They closed all the stores by me and their website is down. No way to redeem my warranty either, what a rip off just like everything else in their store!
The drying grid light comes on for a few minutes and then it switches to attention required
SAME! I've cleaned it from top to bottom.
As I'm unaware Sharper Image has posted a fix to this one can assume I'll never step foot into that store or buy anything from them or anyone else associated with the Sharper Image company and I've spent a LOT of money there.

It's pretty clear this is a widespread problem and obviously a product defect so if I am made whole then I'll be shopping there again.

It was doing a great job, until the blue light started flashing, Now it's not doing anything, except sitting there reminding me about the money I spent at Sharper Image. I've cleaned it and re-cleaned it with zero results!! How do I get it fixed?????????????????

I have the GP model. same problem. blinking red light. happened after cleaning. do these things have some sort of capacitor that blows even though the unit is unplugged?
