Hello.
I used my computer earlier today, which was working fine...when i finished i shut it off.
When i came back to turn it on, turned on my pc but my display would not work. the display has power and i have verified that the cord and all connections are fine. the acer aspire ase700 eq662a started as normal, system beep, keyboard lights and mouse light all work fine but no video.
i removed the video card and replaced it with a brand new card that came with the unit with no resolve. i tried a different monitor with no resolve.
Any suggestions?????
Thank you
William

speakers inside the set (see menu) switchedon or off?
internal/external switch somewhere in or on back of set?
Clearly it could be a audio problem (a model number?) but explore all here thatyou have not already done--make sure theremote set to TV and look for a button on it marked MTS and if there cycle it.
You can also determine if same trouble when you play a DVD.
Some times when computer goes in to hibernate mode just pressing power button does not work. ultimately pressing it should bring it back on. Since this does not work you are going to have to probably shut it down by holding power button for about 10-15 seconds or by unplugging power cord. Keep in mind that all the information that was not saved on the pc will be lost and all open programs will be closed. Some programs will do what is called auto save if set up this way after certain time period but not sure about your program. this is kinda normal to happen from time to time but not too often. Hope this helps.
While the computer is booting up you should be able to hit F8 repeatedly and be offered the option to boot into safe mode. This will allow you to access your files.
Since the computer is already slow, I would back up these files to a thumb drive and just reformat using restore disks if you have any. If you don't let me know and we can explore further.
connect external Display and check if working. Circle through main display > Main dsply + extnl Dsply > external Dsply using the appropriate Fn key combination (Fn+F4 on my HP). If only external dsply is working check every connection you possibly affected or bring to a repair shop.
if it cause from power follow joshypants instructio, if it comes from ie7 you restart and when the post screen appear press f8(quickly) and choose safe mode perform system restore.
i want to suggest you, first let remove your battery for a while and connect directly to power supply. and we see. it works well. if it is ok, you use it. when you finish to use your computer, let your computer standby or shut off and attach battery back to it. and recharge your computer's battery for using when you go outside.
There any number of problems that could have caused the shut down. Depending on how old the set is make your decision on whether it would be wiser to replace it
