Question about HP Compaq Presario 2500 HP Pavilion ZE 5000 NX9010 Series (chassis bottom)319470-001 (319470001) CD-ROM Drive
Can you help?
A friend gave me some dell speakers to hook up to my computer. I have a HP Pavilion mx70 monitor (desktop) and Compaq Presario cpu. I know I am putting the green wire into the audio jack on back of cpu...but absolutely no sound...not even coming on when I turn speaker dial...just dead. My friend sd she had no problem. I am so frustrated, can you pls help? Mind you, these are not speakers that have an adapter that plugs into an electrical outlet? Would that make a difference?

Are you sure your in the right slot with the speaker wire at the back of your PC it is the green imput. Make sure that the speakers are pluged in if there is a plug for them.
Sorry for sounding a bit basic I'm sure you have already checked these but sometimes people forget.
The volume may be turned off on the status bar at the bottom left of you destop. This is a small speaker double click it and check that the volume is not turned off.
there is no drivers ar anything for the actual speakers unless there is a problem with the sound card in your Dell.
Will you just check that all the wiring is correct and I will guide you through the trouble shooting to see is there anything wrong in the drivers if everthing is ok wiring wise.

Do you have Vista? If so, you should contact HP directly. I had the same problem which occured 3 months after my warranty ran out. I called HP and was told(after they tried to sell me another laptop) that I installed the wrong antivirus program but since I never used my warranty, they would do me a BIG favor and fix it for free. I then waited 14 days for my new laptop and was very happy when it was returned only to find out 3 months later that there is a RECALL for HP laptops with the Vista program that was a MANUFACTURERS defect. THEY HAVE TO FIX IT AND FOR FREE!!!!! I hope this helps you. Good luck.

SOURCE: no sound from speakers
Ok newer monitors come with a HDMI connector and would need a compatable HDMI video card that has the ability for sound. The older monitors have a 3mm plug like a head phone jack you can plug this directly into the GREEN portion of the sound card that is installed in your system!
