How do I replace the imaging unit in my clx3160fn? getting a warning to replace imaging unit soon. no instructions in the manual on how to do so. help?

C360 error: "Replace Image Transfer Belt Unit"

The error message under that title is "Have the image transfer belt replaced soon." It's a new unit, but resists doing the Gradation Adjust. Tried returning the old belt (which was working before the replacement) and error message remains, so apparently the problem is not with the new belt.

System Error Clear (System 1 -> Initialization) gives "Result: OK" but has no effect; the problem remains after machine restart. However, it does NOT at any time give L-5 error (Transfer belt unit accumulated rotation time excess warning), just continues to say "replace image transfer belt unit", and will not allow anything else to proceed. What am I missing? (Transfer belt clutch malfunction?

Imaging units have a limited life span and sounds like yours is getting to the end of it. Sooner or later the printer will stop and demand image unit replacement.

this is a warning that the drum unit needs to be replaced soon, the printer will still work for a number of copys but quit if it reach a serchand number. There is only the way to change the drum unit.

image is normal wear to a certain number of units calculated according to the tehnic(user) manual .Se pages may continue to use the printer until you consider that the image you want to buy another unit or until you notice that not print correctly

This usually means that you need to replace the drum on the printer. Most likely it's under 10%, because that's when the warning light comes on. Depending on the printer, you may have 50-150 pages before it completely fails. I would advise to get it replaced soon.

Reminder: A drum is NOT the toner. It's normally a device that may house the toner. Or a separate part.

To fix this error, you will need to replace the transfer belt and/or reset the transfer belt count on your printer. If you are happy the the print quality of the printer, then you can try to reset the transfer belt count and that will clear the error. Otherwise you need to get a replacement transfer belt and swap it out before resetting the count.

To remove your existing transfer belt, you need to open the front panel, and remove the imaging unit by pulling the green handle. The belt is located above the imaging unit. Pull the belt down to release and then pull it straight out of the machine. Take your new belt and slide the back into the machine and push the front of the belt up to lock in place. Then you need to reset the belt count.

To do this, follow the steps below.

1. Enter Tech Mode by pressing [MENU] [#] [1] [9] [3] [4]
2. If you do not see the Tech Mode menu press the menu button again. (You need to enter the key sequence quickly.)
3. Select Tech Menu
4. Select DataSetup
5. Arrow to Clear Counts and press OK
6. Enter Password 1934
7. Arrow to Transfer Belt and press OK.

Brother laser printers have both an imaging drum and a transfer belt that have a limited life span they must be replaced from time to time. Very similar to replacing your toner cartridge. purchase a drum and belt for your model and they will have installation instructions with them.

This may be due to so many factors. Fuser unit, LSU. Main board. imaging unit consumables etc.
Please take it authorised service center only

This is the problem of black developer in the imaging unit. This may be replaced by Authorised service center.

Sorry about my last post. I didn't realize that it would be placed unter solutions. BUT I did get a resolution from Samsung. They passed me to the advanced team and they suggested I use a special code they gave me to reset all the machine. As I said before the machine was giving me an error that all the toners and the imaging unit were invalid. Samsung said to try this and if it didn't work they would send me a new (refurb) unit. They said to press in sequence <menu><#><1><9><3><start (b&w)> then when the unit cycles it will ask to imput the country, in my case I entered the US. The machine will then reset itself and all the cartridges and imaging unit should be reset to work. IT WORKED!! The machine said to wait while it re-installs the toners. When it did the red warning light turned off and the printer is working great. Hope this helps.
