My DVD player on my Sony Dav-HDX274 5.1 Channel Home Theater System With Dvd Player won't open. When I push eject (on both the unit and remote) it will read open or close and although it sounds like it is opening or closing or at least trying to nothing happens. I have tried to push the power, eject and stop button at the same time but it doesn't do anything. I have also turned off and unplugged several times from 30 seconds to an hour and nothing changes. I have owned the unit for about 2 years and I have used the DVD player frequently, but not overused in my opinion. Any help would be appreciated.... thanks

DVD player drawers are generally driven by a small rubber belt that either falls off or breaks. Easily fixed by just looking inside the unit and replacing the inexpensive belt.

Yes, tis unit has 2 video inputs at rear so you can connect any other dvd player sound (analog or digital) to get 5.1 channel surround sound from DAV-C770 speakers.

A bizarre coincidence but our Sony DVD player DAV C700 did exactly the same when the kids were watching a DVD. All other functions on the system are still working but the DVD player wll not eject or play - and the self diagnosis function C 81 remains illuminated on the display.

hehehe, its funny problem. let me try to help you.
1- Press Power to turn the set ON.
2- select DVD function.
3- press STOP and EJECT buttons for Five (5) Seconds.
4- the message UNLOCKED will display.

I had the same problem and searched FIX and found a solution for a Phillips DVD player that worked on my Sony DAV-FC7 dvd player. Someone posted that they called their Phillips Tech Service and was told to (a) unplug the dvd unit from the wall and wait 20 seconds,then (b) press the standby+plug the unit back into the wall at the same time and hold for 10 seconds. I did this for my Sony DAV-FC7 which would not power on nor eject (just red light on). IT WORKED!! after doing these steps, my SONY powered on and the rented DVD ejected. The dvd palyer works again.
