Excessive Water Overflow

Scotsman MC 15 AS 6B Air-cooled The machine produces ice just fine but after each freezing cycle, which takes about 20 min, it drains about 12 liters of water into the drainage. The manual states 300 liters / 24h water consumption. Present value is 3x12x24 = 864 liters + 150kg ice in 24h. Is there a float valve that could be damaged in this machine model or would you assume the water inlet valve needs fixing? Any help is appreciated.

Reduce the water pressure at the inlet valve so the trough fills up during harvest but doesn't overflow too much. There is a restrictor you can put in the valve entry, or you can just turn the tap to partly close it.

SOURCE: Water works fine - No Ice

Does it sound like everything is running, only the machine isnt makinf ice? If so, there is a small triangular housing with a hose connected to the small motor on the left under the front panel. shut off the machine and remove the 3 screws on the triangular housing. inside there is a spring and a round rubber disk. take these items out and clean them. its amazing a tiny amount of debris will cause this to not work. install the reverse as you removed thewm, turn the power on.

SOURCE: Scotsman CM250AE Ice Machine tech help

Check the bridge size adjustment at the top of the metal grid that the ice forms on. This determines the size of the cubes. Whenever you make a repair on the water system, especially on an older unit. make sure the unit is clean. A little bit of calcium deposits (or that other nasty looking stuff) getting into the passage ways will make it run erratically, and can drive you nuts.

Could be in need of cleaning with some nickleguard ice machine cleaner. Or maybe a restriction in the pump? How about a scotsman repair manual?

Scotsman c0330 is not making ice and display code flashing 8

Low room temperature - Most Scotsman ice makers won't produce ice when the temperature is below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure the machine is in a room or setting that is warmer. ... Faulty thermistor - A bad thermistor usually causes the bin to fill with too much ice.

Scotsman icemachine constantly freezing up no matter how small you put the setting?

Max harvest cycle just keeps it in a harvest longer. if you set the freeze setting to its lowest point and ice is still to thick then replace the freeze stat.

Low ice output

Low ice production has multiple causes. First check condensing coil to see if they are dirty and not passing air. This is the most probable cause for low ice production. Next, measure freeze cycle time and harvest time. Freeze time is typically 20 to 30 minutes and harvest time is normally 1.5 to 3 minutes. If freeze time is long (> 35 minutes), first check water valve shuts after reservoir is full. If it does not shut off the water solenoid operated valve needs replaced. Second, find the harvest solenoid operated valve which branches off the compressor discharge and port high temperature gas into evaporator during harvest and see that evaporator side of harvest valve cools down to surrounding temperature in a few minutes 8 - 10 after freeze cycle starts and harvest time stops. If it does not cool off the valve is leaking by its seat and will require a technician to replace. Lastly, if long freeze cycle could be due to low refrigerant and will require and tech to charge properly. Ice machine are critically charged and a tech will know how to charge the right amount. Again, it is possible the metering device is not passing enough refrigerant and a technician can determine this by checking the superheat and subcool. Low subcooling <3 and a high superheat >20 typically indicate an txv (metering devise) needs replaced and will require a tech to replace.

Ice machince is going max freeze cycle shut down

1. Possible cause. Water leak. Check purge valve, water curtain, sump, sump hose.
2. Air filters clogged. Clean air filters.
3. Dirty condenser. Clean condenser.
4. Restricted location, intake air to hot. Have machine moved.
5. Ice thickness sensor dirty or disconnected. Check ice thickness sensor probe.
6. Water distributor dirty. Remove and clean water distributor.
7. Inlet water valve leaks through during freeze cycle. Check water inlet valve.
8. Connected to hot water. Check for bleed through from missing check valve in building water supply.
9. Incomplete harvest. Check harvest system.
10.High pressure cut out opened. Check fan motor pressure control, check fan motor, check controller using test mode.
11. Fan motor pressure control open. Check fan pressure control.
12. Fan motor not turning. Check fan motor, check fan blade, check controller using test mode.
13.Water pump not pumping. Check pump motor, check controller using test mode.
14. Pump hose disconnected. Check hose.
15. Compressor not operating. check compressor contactor, check controller using test mode.
Check compressor start components, check PTCR resistance and temperature, check compressor voltage, check compressor windings.
16. Low refrigerant charge. Add some refrigerant and restart unit. If cycle time imporves, look for a leak.
17. Hot gas valve leaks through during freeze. Check hot gas valve for hot outlet during freeze.
18. Thermostatic expansion valve bulb loose. Check bulb.
19. Thermostatic expansion valve producing very low or high superheat. Check evaporator superheat, Change TXV if incorrect.
20. Compressor inefficent. Check compressor amp draw, if low and all else is correcy, change compressor.

I have some problem with our machine scotsman mv450 is to long product ice very slowly

Min freeze time 6 minutes and max freeze time 45 minutes. the 6 minutes is with perfect conditions. Example: Cycle time water temp was 50 degrees coming in to the water sump tray from water supply and the Ambient air temp surrounding the machine was a constant 70 deg than the machine should make ice every 10 - 12 minutes.now we know that the water temp from the water source is not going to be 50 deg and room temp will not be 70 deg all the time so the warmer water temp and ambient air temp is the longer it takes to make ice. one thing you wont to check is the water inlet valve to make sure it is not letting water seep through causing water temp not to cool down from running across evap plates. make sure the condenser coil is clean this will slow down production of ice.

Mv450 scotsman high pressure

Check to make sure the condenser coil is clean, fan motor is running during freeze cycle. High Ambient temp, Ventilation, The higher the temperature entering the condenser coil the higher the head pressure. Fan motor failure, pressure switch failure. The cut out pressure varies 400, 450 or 500 PSIG. Water supply failure. not enough water running over the evaporator plate will cause high presser.

The scotsmand machine make ice, but quantity of the ice seems limited. The machine was descaled a month ago, no signs it needs serviced again. Could the cube sensor be faulty?

Take a can of compressed air and blow out the dust in the coil. If the coil can't get rid of the heat, it reflects in the amount of ice it produces.
