The radio part of the CD player works fine. The CD player was just installed about a week ago and since then I have purchased another of the same brand and model (Sony CDX-GT33W) and installed it only to have the same problem. The car is a Chrysler Concord.
Does your car have a premium sound system? Assuming that your cd deck is fine, try connecting your remote turn on wire from the sony to the corresponding wire on the car(if you bought a wiring harness, just match colors). Also some chryslers used a ground to turn on the amps.. a black wire with a female connector as well as a heavy ground ribbon cable... connect those 2 AND the ground to your stereo to enable the amplifiers.

Tried connecting the amp wire to the ground, but had no change. Then after more research discovered that the previous radio (Crystler Infiniti model) required the amp wire to be connected to the power antenna wire. After wiring it like that the cd player is now working. Thanks for the advice, it got me started in the right direction.
