Can not take it apart but to remove it reach with both hands into the machine grip the agitator firmly at the bottom by getting both hands fingers under the bottom rim of the agitator. Give it a strong yank upwards (towards your body) to dislodge the agitator from the center shaft.

The agitator barely moves at all during the wash cycle.

Usually once you take off the agitator cap and remove the bolt just pull up on the top half of the agitator and it will snap right up. Take note to the position of the plastic washer and how it fits. This will make it much easier to reassemble. I will bet that the dogs are the problem. The way to check them is to try and turn the top of the agitator back forth while holding the bottom. It should turn one way but not the other. If it slips at all, replace the dogs. About $8- $10.

Agitator getting clothes wrapped underneath bottom not releasing

Could be a Major issue! Unless the agitator will unhook from inside the tub. See if the Very Top of the agitator unscrews. If it does then the agitator should come up. The motor is directly connected to or part of the agitator shaft.

Wouldn't agitate and how do i get it apart

If the agitator does not work, then depending on make, it could be your clutch or transmission or belt tension. Agitators are pushed on type(To remove pull up), but removing it will not solve problem, if agitator is not worn out.
