i do have a solution i used but it has to be above freezing. spray the motor down with water it will wash all the antifreeze and stuff away let it dry double check all electrical connections any lose ones check for moisture and shorts. repair any that are messed up then try it.
Does it run constantly? If so, an easy test fix is to go to WalMart and buy a timer that cycles in half hour intervals. Play with the on/off settings and see if that stops it from freezing up.
May be the thermostat, which is a fairly easy fix.
May be low on Freon.
If the engine is getting hot enough it sounds like the flow through the heater core is restricted. When it is hot turn the heater on and feel the radiator hoses. One should be real hot and the other a little cooler, not much. Try taking the heater hoses off and run water from a garden hose through them. Run both directions and maybe it will break something loose. You won't lose much antifreeze by unhooking the heater hoses.
pop off the oven knob and look at the back of it. sometimes the are two screws that you can loosen and fine tune your temp settings. if the temp is way off i would say you need a new thermstat. its a little bit off work but you could definetly do that yourself and save some money on repair costs.
