I have an epson NX400 inkjet printer, all ink cartridges are full and are installed correctly. When trying to print, the black ink is not being printed. I have tried doing several head cleanings,...

hey friend,

This should be the problem of print head ink nozzle block. The nozzle for the black ink cartridge got dry.So the ink getsdried state. It won't allow any inks passing through the micro nozzles.Head cleaning won't help with the heavy nozzle block. So try replacing a new black cartridge or else bring the printer to the nearest service center. It'll help so.

I have a 4 month old epson sx215 printer... everything was working fine two days ago and today i went to print some very important documents and my black ink wont work... the inks are all full, I have done...

you have two option,
1.you can do nozzle check and head clean , many time can repeat, there is any improvement you can continue the same process.it will work
2.change print head(better go for new printer, you should understand one thing, Epson print head along with printer so, you have to take printout at least every day one copy,if you are using HP inkjet printer, this kind of problem you can solve every easily, just change cartridge only, because hp cartridge along with print head not with printer.

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

Will not print. Shows I -02

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. You need to consider 2 things, firstly the official line: Epson (and all other inkjet manufacturers) do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing. It is also why the "print in Black only" option (available on some printers) only works when the coloured inks are OK.
The 2nd unofficial line is that it is a win-win situation for manufacturers. Firstly they get to cut down on costly warranty call outs for blocked heads (replacement printers, technician manhours, etc) and secondly they get to sell lots more inks (Ka-ching!). If you really want to print black text only (and save cash on price per-print) then a mono-laser printer is the best way as they can now be bought at inkjet prices.

Black not printing about every 3rd line

You have the classic single nozzle failure it appears. You say you have done a nozzle check. This should reveal that one of the black nozzles is not working i.e. there is a single gap in your nozzle check printout for the black nozzles. Now, this may be due to a blocked nozzle. Try the following print head soak process.

Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean again. If still nothing, report back

Black ink not printing

You have to run a head cleaning cycle:
Follow these steps to clean the print head:

  1. Make sure the Stylus CX is on and the cp_light_183_er.gif ink light is off.

  2. Hold down the cp_button_48_er.gif ink button for 3 seconds until the cp_light_1.gif On light starts flashing. The Stylus CX runs a head cleaning cycle and the cp_light_1.gif On light flashes.

alert_caution.gif Caution: Never turn off the Stylus CX while head cleaning is in progress. You may damage it.

  3. When the cp_light_1.gif On light stops flashing, turn off the Stylus CX.

  4. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.

  5. Press the cp_button_48_er.gif ink and cp_button_1.gif On buttons together and hold them down for about 3 seconds. The Stylus CX turns on and prints a test pattern, which includes a nozzle check. Shown below are some examples of what the nozzle check may look like:

Nozzle check pattern with no gaps im_158_er.gif Nozzle check pattern with gaps im_159_er.gif

  6. Examine the nozzle check. If it does not look like the nozzle check pattern with no gaps as shown above, repeat steps 2 through 6.

alert_note.gif Note: If you don't see any improvement after cleaning the print head three times, turn off the Stylus CX and wait overnight. This lets any dried ink soften. Then try cleaning the print head again.

If you do not use your Stylus CX often, it is a good idea to print a few pages at least once a month to maintain good print quality.

Epson cx 6400 not printing colors

Chances are you are running out of ink or need to do more cleaning cycles.

Its also possible that your ink is "Very Old" and may be slowly becoming clogged in the cartridges.

Not printing in black

Turn off the Stylus CX. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder. Press the ink and ON buttons together and hold them down for about 3 seconds.
The Stylus CX turns on and prints a test pattern, which includes a nozzle check. If the print comes as = >
Nozzle check pattern with no gaps, and if its print in black then reinstall the printer driver
or => Nozzle check pattern with gaps and black doesn't print please send the printer for repair
