My start/cancel button is not working. I

My start/cancel button is not working. I initially had an error message (clean was lit up and S under it) and I called the troubleshooting number and they told me to turn off circuit for few minutes. Did that and pushed "normal" when it was working, cycle stopped with same message soon into it and then i ran the rinse cycle which worked. Then start/cancel button stopped working. I turned off the power again and now it ignores me when I try to get it to run, the cycle switches to speed wash and after couple of minutes it goes blank (not reading start/cancel). What should i do?

SOURCE: Model # GLD4355RFB1 The dishwasher suddenly

I have twice had the machine become unresponsive in a similar way, and in both cases it was due to the touchpad internals or ribbon cable connector (and probably not the main circuit board) breaking or becoming wet. At first glance it seems impossible for such a sealed system to get wet, but a) the ribbon cable goes in via a poorly sealed slot, and b) the seal at/near door lock right next to the slot lets steam out.
Drying (and other) steam is supposed to come out at the _bottom_ of the door. If it comes out the top I think you can suspect the touchpad. I found (the second time around, just last week) that the thing could be fixed with some quality hair dryer time, along with some contact cleaner. I am working on making the door seal better -- just pushing the door firmly closed might actually be enough.
Oh, there is a test mode. From PF or idle, press the Air Dry and Start/Cancel buttons together for a few seconds. It'll then step through the 9 (?) stages in a few minutes, during which various things (pumps, sensors, etc) get tested. You can fast-forward stages by pressing the Start/Cancel button, and errors codes ae supposed to pop up. Oh, better diagnostic docs (which cursorily describe these tests) are in stored inside the front door.
I'm not impressed by the design.
This was for some other GLD4355 machine, but I suspect the family resemblance is pretty strong.

How do I change the Waste Ink collector on a Pixma MP170?

Cleaning or changing the pad is a messy project. This ink pad reset will reset the printer ink use conter to new status and your pad full message will be gone. This is a common occurance with Canon printers and the fix causes no harm. I reset my own MP470 about two years ago without incident.

This reset has been sucessful on many MP150 and simular units and should work on your MP170.
The second works on models with different control pads simular to theMP470.

Error code 5100 check printer

This is probably a Canon printer and code. If so, it is the "ink waste pad is full" warning. There are work arounds to keep from having to clean the pad. Here are two methods to eliminate the message. The only other ways are to take it to a repair shop or dismantle the printer and clean the pad yourself. Not advised, This is messy.

This works on many different printers.

There is an error message which says: waste ink near full what do I do next?

The printer will still work just fine, but the message will not go away. Changing the tank is a messy job and canon willtell you to take the printer to a service center. The following has worked to remove the message on my pc. Sorry, I'm not aware of the tank or pad cleaning procedure, but this should help with the message removal.

There could be 2 reason for this error. You can either reset the error or try and clean the printer from inside which might be causing the problem. Below are the 2 steps:

STEP 1: Clean the printer from inside
  1. Opened the cover and checked the front right of the printer near the waste ink pads
  2. Carefully turn the cogs to move the ink cleaning mechanism
  3. There might be a load of paper jam debris blocking the mechanism from reaching its port
  4. Carefully cleaning this out and putting the printer back together

STEP 2: Reset the error
