The 5010 error is an issue with the scanning bed. The only way to fix this is to replace the scanning unit on the printer. Check with Canon for a repair center nearest you.
Best of luck..
Have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season.
I pressed the reset button - as recommended for the cartridge to be detected and ..miracle: the cartridge problem vanished as well as the error 5010 message!!!!!!!! I printed a document with no problem...
Hope this has helped you...
Thanks...
Error Code 5010: Canon recommends resetting the machine. Unplug the power cord for 10 seconds. Then press the power button to turn the printer back on. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
5010 is a scanner error, either worn out scan lamp or sensors. Canon only replaces the entire scan assembly, if you like I can get part number and price.
Thank You for your help. My MP600 doesn't have a switch on the
bottom. Nothing at all. Thanks
