Garage Opener Model 3255 Chamberlain Lift Master

The Chamberlain Lift Master Professional garage opener opens by itself and closes by itself during the day. What is causing it to do that and what can I do? Model 3255

The most common cause of this problem is a bad wall control the wiring going to it. You can eliminate both temporarily by removing the wire at terminal 1 on the back of the motor unit. The wiring sometimes is shorted by the staples the installer uses. The wall control gets used a lot.

Release the opener from the door and try opening it by hand. Sounds like you may have broken door springs.

My lift master garage door opener does not open or close, when you hit the button it makes an electrical niose for a few seconds and nothing happens. I checked the gears and they look fine. Any ideas?

The model number will be on the opposite end of where you found the part number you listed. You can then call any Liftmaster dealer listed in your yellow pages.

Chamberlain Lift Master Pro Formula 1 only makes click sound

Is the door stuck in the open position? If so the trolley is probably jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Loosen the chain enough to free the trolley and then run the opener until the door is closed. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 complete turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

The learn button is just above terminal 3 on the terminal board. You might want to call Chamberlain Technical Support Helpline at 800-528-5880 with that opener.

If the main light is flashing 10 times it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and neither of the lights is flickering.

I know that that is a lift-master opener. chamberlain owns lift-master. but if its a new opener your looking for try the lift-master 3800 jack shaft opener. it features a low profile design that mounts next to the door instead of on the ceiling above the door, and also incorporates a battery backup so that you will never be locked out again.

The relay that controls the lights is most likely bad. This is a unfortunately a common problem after electrical storms.
