DSC-W1 Camera will take apart to replace battery compartment.

Yes, but you would most likely (don't quote me) have to send it back to the manufacture to get it fixed. That means $$$, is there a way for you to tape it on? You really only need the metal piece/plate touching the batteries.

I have the same problem - the plastic bayonet lugs are the weak point on the lens assembly, but better that then breaking the camera body mating ring. I've dissasembled the rear of the lens and will try to reglue the two split lugs with cyanoacrylate glue. Be very careful not to mix up the 3 different types of screws, avoid damage to the multi-contact plate ribbon cable, and to not to loose the backfocus shims! Cheers.

You will need to replace the battery cover assembly and contact Kodak at 1-800-431-7278 during normal business hours (Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST), and select option 3.

I did the same thing. Is the little medal piece still on the inside of the battery cover. If not you will have to replace the entire door and you should be all set.

I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.

Take batteries out and have them checked, and make sure they are fully charged. Take a pencil eraser and clean/polish the contacts at base of the battery compartment Take a look at the battery-comp cover place and make sure the contact plate is firm replace batteries switch on OK No? Open the battery compartment, place a piece of foil across the batteries and shut it - turn on -OK No? Press the cover in OK No? Them it has broken beyond your reach and needs repair or replacement
