Re: How do I change a drive belt on a JTO300 stacked...
There won't be many people on here with experience of that drier (in my opinion!), but here is a forum where you are more likely to get the help you need: Coin Laundry Forums Planet Laundry

Hi,
You have included a picture of the cam stack, which on your machine is broken or at least some of the little black teeth are gone.
The cam stack should turn when the machine is running, if not your machine will still sew straight but that's all. It is not an easy part to change and the part is expensive ($40-$50).
I don't know what a stitch cog is by your definition but I suspect that you may be referring to the cam stack worm gear, part # 310 007 03. These gears are available, however those produced and sold as after market parts online have ranged from bad to very bad. I would suggest that you find an OEM part (not a reproduction) that are still available from time to time on EBAY etc.
Changing the gear is not as straight forward as it may look. The proper replacement requires: 1. removal of the cam stack without damaging the machine parts, 2. removal and installation of the new gear with the correct alignment of the individual cams, 3. installation of the cam stack and pattern indicator without axial play, 4. correct parabola timing of the main-shaft worm wheel and cam stack gear, 5. synchronization of the zigzag and automatic cam parabolas, 6. pattern indicator timing, 7. checking and adjusting the automatic needle position. I think it is bobbin winding mode. Take a look at the hand wheel, check for a inner knob and turn it the other way. Sometimes on later models it was a switch type thing you flipped.
Now... lets talk about WD40. WD stands for water displacement. It is NOT a lubricant. When it\'s all freed up in there... wipe that stuff out and oil. DO NOT LEAVE THAT stuff IN THERE.
Unfortunately your explanation is not clear enough, have you changed the drive belt or the cam belt ? if you have changed the drive belt there shoulkd be an adjuster so the belt fits on nicely
This is a very common problem with these machines. First of all you have to have a new camstack gear. Then you may need a tech to do it. The gears can be found for purchase on the internet with a search. If you feel you want to do it yourself contact me and I'll tell you how but its very involved and many things have to be done just right for it to work.

May just need a good thorough service - generally a good idea to have it completely gone over - by an experienced Pfaff tech - every year or 2. Internal parts can dry out and simply get jammed.
The timing could be off - again an experienced tech can take care of.
The cam-stack (the part that actually makes your stitch formations) may have cracked. At the age of your machine, this isn't uncommon.
At the age of your machine, many other owners actually have it "rebuilt" by an authorized Pfaff service person. This model is one of those that's worth the investment compared to buying a new machine of the same caliber/quality.
If you are comfortable removing the top cover, you may be able to look at the internal parts to see if anything is broken. This will at least give you an idea of what may be happening.
Many authorized techs will not charge you to look at the machine and give you a quote. We'd suggest calling a few sewing machine stores in your area. Don't hesitate to ask friends for their recommendation of a good service person.
Hope this helps - please don't hesitate to respond if you need further info or clarification.
