Need help on my lexmark x 4270

Thanks for the help. I followed your recommendation of uninstalling the Lexmark program and reinstalling it. Note that I had done this previously and still had the problem. However, following your advice, the third time must have been a charm. The problem has been solved.

The all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work fully with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie Lexmark X4270) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.

Download it from the Lexmark website.

Lexmark does not distribute replacement install disk for all models.

Contact Lexmark here, to see if the disk for your printer is available.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.

Your printer was not on the list of those compatible with vista

you can go to search.lexmark.com

under search input cjr4200en.exe

download and follow the directions.

Windows vista is a brand new OS and many printer manufacturers have had to produce new drivers to run on these OS. I would visit lexmark website and download the new driver fo your printer and OS (vista).

yes you can download the driver for your printer from the lexmark website

Enter x427 into the search field and select the lexmark x4270 when the search suggests it.

After this select the vista from the list of systems and download and install the drivers.
