There should be a scanning option from Epson's Control Application, that you should have installed on your PC. If you're trying to scan from say Photoshop or similar program go through the File-Import-From TWAIN scanning process. Also, you may want to check if there's a break that blocks the scanning head from moving. This should either be on the bottom or back side of the scanning assembly. Look for a plastic bezel that has two sliding positions, it should also have an icon of a locked and unlocked keychain or something similar.

We leave ours in copy mode and just print from the computer. Is the printer not responding when printing from your computer? Here's a link to the user manual in case that helps:
