The laptop in question does not have a place to plug in the ethernet cable. The laptop is not fitted with wi-fi or bluetooth adapters either. The best and cheapest way to connect this laptop to the internet is using a PCMCIA Card Adapter (type two or three as both are supported.) such as the product supplied by linksys. If yours is similar to the one in the photo then it should include a cable with the required network connection on the end. The "linksys" card you mentioned is no doubt the correct one, but minus the vital cable!
Secondarily, you would have to consult your owners manual on what type of expansion port(s) you have internally, then purchase an ethernet card, similar to the one in the link below, and install it: Intel PWLA8391GT PRO 1000 GT PCI Network Adapter
Go out to Staples and buy an ethernet card. You can use this permanently or just to access the web to the drivers for the integrated port. That's what I had to do.
As in an internet card that acts as a wireless receiver? If so, these things don't transmit wirelessly, so it's just for internet in your laptop. You need either an ethernet cable running from a land line, or a wireless receiver for the 360 with a wireless router.
if you don't have one. yes, you do need some type of network card in order to go on to the Internet by way of modem. (DSL, higspeed, dial-up).
what pc do you have and what operating system ???
