Frostguard We have a side by side GE freezer. My wife left the door ajar overnight and now everything is snowy in the freezer. It was running and then I closed the door and the fan stopped but it did not appear the temperature was dropping. How long until the freezer starts to cool again?

SOURCE: refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

This could be a sensor issue , that is what i would be changing in the first instance. The sensor connects into the same connector the vent door connects into.

SOURCE: freezer door wont seal and stay closed

Your pushing air from the fridge part over to the freezer door when you clos it,the only thing i can suggest is make sure that the seal (which is magnetic) is clean and not falling apart, inspect it all around the door, and when closing the door i would close it gently.

Hope this helped.Let me know by rating me or

Freezer door pops open about 1/8" when you shut refrig door

this is very normal this means that you have an extremly good seal .. causing air to push threw duct work when closing door .... try changing the levelnes of refrigerator so when door does pop open it falls back closed meaning tilt fridge front higher than back of fridge

FREEZER AND REFRIGERATOR NO LONGER COOLING (GE MODEL GSS25XSRDSS)

Not enough info. If the unit is totally dead then I would suspect the main board (in the rear under a panel) if the fans are running I would suspect the compressor is not running.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

The freezer door was ajar overnight and now the icemaker is leaking water

chances are alot of the ice melted overnight. remove all of the ice cubes, dry everything out and then wait a full 24 hours for the icemaker to produce ice cubes.

Freezer is cold but not fridge

there is a little trap door at rear upper corner of frig/freezer. (side by side type) Not sure where it is on others. Opens to cool refrig side closes when right temp is reached, Either link to operator is frozen or broke. Should be fixed (replaced) by repairman, easy, fast not too expensive.

GE Side by side runs constantly.

The timer that controls the defrost cycle/function, may have failed and there may be no defrosting occurring. If icing of the coils due to the missing defrost cycle, there may not be enugh circulation left to keep the thermostat happy.

Try defrosting it manually (I know, it's a pain - aren't we spoiled?) and see if the compressor then cycles for a few days before it starts running continuously again.

And for Dr. Fred, the above suggestion about trying manually defrosting applies to your problem too.
The exposure to overnight moisture (ice accumulation) may have interfered with the automatic cycle.
