Hi, this m700 (I got it in the current state). No battery, keyboard & no drives attached, so the problem is in inner parts. When I take off the screen it turns on (fan is spinning, 3 right leds on) but no post, no image on external monitor. When I put it's lcd back on, I get orange led blinking by the battery indicator, but no post as well. Any ideas? Yes, I've replaced the ac card, the adapter is new, working with another laptop just fine. Thanks
Hi again, ok, I have 3 replacement screens, none of them is working with this specific laptop, but they work perfectly on other m700. I get NO POST, therefore I cannot clear up/default my bios. I added some ram, now, if I just plug in the ac cord it tries to post, but fails in about 3-4 seconds and repeats itself , if I plug the cord while holding the power button it turns the screen white and still no post.

My name is Vikram Kumar Thumu, from India-Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue related to Display issue. . I would like to provide my suggestions on the issue. I hope that this should work for you and will resolve the issue.
To isolate and to resolve the issue please try below solutions....
***NOTE** Before starting below solutions I recommend you to RESEAT RAM in your PC, since it might help in resolving issue. Mostly issue related to display could cause of bad RAM.
Solution 1:
-----------------
Please Restart your notebook and then use the Flash light( Torch light) to check if you can see any image on screen . If no image is seen , then it could be issue with Display screen or an issue with Operating System.
To confirm the issue, please once again restart the PC and then tap F10 key to boot the PC in to BIOS. Now, please check the issue even in BIOS, use same Flash light to check if there is any visible characters in BIOS.
if you are able to see characters in BIOS, then it confirms that is an fault with OS,,, then go ahead try BIOS Update, BIOS default... if the issue still persists use the recovery disk and reinstall the OPERATING SYSTEM in your PC.
If you do not see any Characters in BIOS, then it confirms that it is an fault with NB,(Notebook) please contact HP on this issue for SERVICE OF NB.(,(Notebook)

You can't, because the leads in this battery are spot welded to the battery. If you could get replacement battery, you cannot solder leads to the battery because the heat will destroy the battery. Just buy a replacement BIOS battery with the leads attached.
I'm copying someone else's answer; I can't vouch for it. emove the main battery and mains power supply, hit the power switch to
drain any retained charge. then remove the cmos battery and short out
the contacts. the cmos battery is on the right under the panel at the
top of the keyboard, which can be popped out by gently levering it up
at the edges. the key board can then be folded clear, watch for the
ribbon cable under it that connects to the motherboard.
Try this: Remove the power adapter and battery from the laptop. Press and hold the power button for up to one minute to discharge the laptop. Try starting it.
this may be because the battery is dead so you may have to keep the charger attaached to the laptop for power. if this does not work then this means that the battery is no longer good so u will need to replace it.
It could be just a coincidence...but lets try a few things...
Remove the battery and unplug from the wall. Hold the power button on...and then plug back into power...after 8 seconds release the power button. Once your computer boots to desktop...shut down...and replace the battery.
Changing the harddrive should have anything to do with teh battery...
See if your battery starts charging after this trick.
Always start with the simplest solution first so start by cleaning all the contacts, AC adapter laptop plug, laptop socket, laptop battery contacts and battery contacts.
How have you confirmed power output from the AC adapter? have you used a voltmeter to ensure you are getting power at the laptop end?
Have you used a voltmeter to test the battery?
Assuming you have tried all this don't forget that almost any component can interrupt power on some laptops, however you're 2 main culprits with this kind of problem are usually power controller (voltage regulator) and in some cases, on a laptop of this vintage, the charge controller built in to the battery.
Try it with a different battery if you have one.
It could be under the keyboard or under the hard disc drive, there may be peice if tape over it to secure it.
it looks like a large flat 3v watch battery.
