Honestly, it could be either one. But, to save on costs, clean out "dirt and gunk" first. Be sure the unit is turned OFF and unplugged before attempting any cleaning. FYI - Hosing it out does not count as cleaning. And could do more damage than good.

if it does, on the name plate it will have a split rating for the btus. one for cooling and one for heating. if there is only one rating i.e. 8000 btus, then it is just for cooling
BTU ratings are usually the Model Number plate which is located in one of three places for Maytag: 1-Underneath burner top if top lifts up easily 2-On left lower front edge of frame with door open 3-Left edge of front oven frame with drawer open
