When i insert any cd/dvd the light on the drive keeps on glowing for sometime and then goes off, the drive shows no cd/dvd but can see the icon in the explorer, no cd or dvd can be read, please help
Yes, this is probably due to a CD/DVD drive that has gone bad. You can purchase a replacement drive from the manufacturer - ACER or you might also want to try looking on Ebay.

Most units are designed to "autoplay" audio CDs when they are inserted. When they fail to do so, it could be because the CD is dirty or scratched and was bot recognized, the media player that you are using to play the CD was not in a state that it could autoplay the CD, or there could be a problem with the Disk drive or PC itself. Whenever a CD fails to play upon insertion, go to the "My Computer" icon (win7 or below) and see if the CD/DVD drive shows a disk inserted. If so, clicking on the drive will often start the playback.
it sounds like the dvd drive without ,,that's kinda what happened to our cd drive last week, I bought a cd drive at walmart,,but they also have good one at best buy
Hi First of all, check that the computer can seet he DVD drive in "My Computer" (By "see" i mean that there is an icon theres showing that it knows there is a DVD present.**
If there is, when you insert a disc, can you see the green ready light on the DVD?
If you have tried several DVD and CD,s and none work, there is a possible power issue with the drive You can try and remove the screw that retains the drive into the laptop, pull out the drive and re-insert it gently but firmly, sometimes this wakes up the drive.
** if the computer cannot see the drive, please repost and I'll go through the proceedure to get it recognised

1.DVD icon displayed in My Computer. 2.When I insert DVD or Cd in the drive,Green light flashes and tries to read the nedia and goes off within few seconds. 3.DVD drive in My Computer when clicked shows empty folder 4.Uninstalled DVD drivers in Device Manager and let windows find it on reboot 5.Issue still persists. 6.Right now external DVD RW works perfect.
> Go to my computer check for the dvd drive
> Check in device manager under cd/dvd drive for the dvd icon if it is not showing
> Go to run -type - regedit
Search for the upperfilter and lowerfilter registry through find option and delete the registry and reboot the system and check for the status
> If dvd drive shows the optical drive uninstall by selecting the optical drive from the device manager
Hi there:
If you know how to boot the computer into bios look for the boot section and check to see if the cd rom is there if not change the settings to show a cd rom and than save and reboot but i think you may have damaged the cd rom when you forced it open these are pretty delicate devices , force should never be used .
best regards mike
