TDC DA-300-12w works but can't set any times or shut off

Is the timing set to # 1 cylinder tdc or is 180 degrees out. Remove valve cover and bring cylinder 1 to tdc both valves will be closed, ensure distributor is set to number 1 firing.

if you are talking inline fuel pump for a diesel engine ( only unit that allows for spill timing) you set the injection mark on the pointer and spill shut off is at that mark
with diesels there are a number of differences as to the different makes of engines as some are 15 degrees up to 22 degrees but they are all set on the INJ mark
talk with a specialist diesel shop as to the degrees for your make of engine as it is critical to prevent engine damage

take magneto cover off find tdc on the magneto and look at the cams it should be after the inlet valve shuts and goes on the firing stroke just put a rod in the cylinder and see if the piston reaches the top off the bore when the magneto is at tdc then its fine buddy any probz im here to answer

#1 tdc it is 10 degrees BTDC you must remove the shorting plug at the dist before setting
