Can`t get any sound no matter which inputs connected (selected). Tried factory reset, change cables but with no luck
You need a new digital board (really expensive). There is a chip on these board (Q3001) that goes bad and doesn't allow part of the firmware to load. This causes the unit to not have any audio output.
Testimonial: "can that chip be replaced (resoldered)?"
sometimes reheating the chip will fix it, but this is usually a temporary fix
no offence mate but think you need more info on TX-SR605 model, as it doesn`t use any chip that would have connections underneath, so reballing is out of question here
and looking at the service manual there`s no such IC as Q3001 :)

SOURCE: Subtitle Problem: Onkyo TX-sr605
The only remote that will definitely turn the sat subtitles on/off is the sat remote. The other subtitle buttons on the other remotes refer to the DVD subtitles and the subtitles generated by the tuner in the tv. The subtitle option is greyed out on the tv because you are not on the tv tuner.
SOURCE: cant find universal remote code for the onkyo tx-sr605
Your onkyo receiver and remote controller only decodes 4 digit codes so what you have to do is to call the manufacturer of the remote controller it self and ask for the hexa decimal codes for their remote. They should provide it to you coz they're the ones responsible on doing that.

This might somewhat help. Today I went back .. I went HDMI out of the Cable box and DVD player into 2 of the TVs HDMI ins. The digital audio out from each, straight to the receiver and things are working ok. All speakers are working OK. Sound isnt as loud or crisp but unfortunately I found no other solution.

The posabilities is power amplifier on your reciever is bad,
replays reciever or repair it.More likely this is IC amplifier located on the main board of the reciever

I am experiencing issues like this although with a VCR connected with analog video. I added a BluRay DVD player and all of a sudden I lost my video upconversion from my VCR. I am going to try to reset the receiver to see if this fixes the problem. If not, I don't think it is the receiver issue, I think it may be the fact that enorder for video to pass through HDMI, allot of criteria needs to be met. Certain Handshakes need to happen, especially with the HDCP issues. Most likely I will connect a separate video cable to my Plasma and use a secondary input on the Plasma for the VCR signal. You may want to purchase the Component Video adapter for the wii system as this will provide you with at least 480p and your receiver should not have an issue passing the signal over the HDMI output. Good luck and give me an update.
