Now i have it laying sidways so the fan stays in place, and it doesn't shut off. Any ideas?

You can bolt the fan in place, may require drilling holes in the back. Be careful not to get metal filings inside the computer.
If there are already mounting holes, buy a fan (same size as the old one and usually they are 12 volt fans) and screw the new fan in place. Take a note which way the fan blows and mount it so that it draws air into the computer.

Try "Crazy Glue" to glue the fan in place or buy a new fan and install it.

How do you take the plastic clip off that hold the tone arm

Well be very carefull, since they breal soooo easily. You can get if bu unscrewing the imbuscat the side and the internal you desolder your tonearm wires and with some effort you can pull out the pivot after unscrewing the the height adjustment screw at the the side. They are crappy things and i just glue them together woth some thin bare thin wire to keep it in place, after that i use some kevlar/carbon fibre with the right glue, but not a lot of glue holds on it.... annoying part.

The clip that holds the face on broke off can it be repaired

This would depend on the type of clip and how it broke off... At your local Advance Auto, Auto Zone, or Napa they sell replacement automotive clips which are very easy to replace if the connector is still in place. In the past I have used super glue to reattach clips to connectors.

Two 512 MB ram with two 1GB, system shuts down by itself

The fan might not be going on and off, rather might be spinning fast and slow. The possible issue might be the heat produced.Try placing the laptop on a high stand with more space for the heat vents. Or buya good cooling pad. If the issue persists, please report back.

61" samsung DLP 3 years old. Keeps turning off by itself.

Get a small but powerful used computer fan and place it in the TV to replace the defective old fan. That's the best way.The factory fans in these TVs don't last.

When the power on switch is pressed, computer powers up momentarily, then shuts down. Both power supply fans run for only an instant.

I've had the same problem with another computer..
The simple solution, instead of buying and installing a new internal fan is to place the computer on its side and put a small electric clip-on fan directly over the vent. Turn on the clip-on fan and then start the computer; the clip-on fan should generate more than enough cooling so that the computer doesn't overhead.

Two notes:
The clip-on fans usually have the clip on the back of the fan so you can clip it to a bed headboard or to a small pole or shelf; the fan is about six inches across, and they sell at Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon.com, etc., for anywhere from $15 to $25, but you can usually buy them at Big Lots or similar stores for about $5 and you can sometimes find them at the Dollar stores.

You can use a larger fan, but a larger fan will generate too much wind. You want to use an electric clip-on fan and not a battery operated fan because a battery operated fan won't generate enough wind/cooling.

And, if the problem ends up being more than simply a cooling problem, you can at least use the clip-on fan later.

Let me know if this works.

Slow, overheating, shuts itself off

sounds like your internal fans are taking early retirement, from all the symptoms..like running a car with no oil, you don't want to run a dell desktop without internal cooling..need to replace that fan..not too hard, actually.

NP9890 shut down

If it is an overheating problem try turning the laptop off, turning it over and placing a vacum on the fan grill on the bottom. Many laptops get a dirt buildup internally and this will sometimes suck out the dirt.
