A couple of reasons. First the carriage the tape sits in is damaged. Next the mechanism that moves the tape is damaged and can't except a tape. Lastly or perhaps due to the later, the mode switch is faulty or not in the right position. The mode switch tells the electronics which position the mechanism is in, be it play, fast forward or eject etc. If the switch is faulty and stuck in eject then it wont except a tape.

SOURCE: TAPE WILL NOT EJECT

Try unplugging the player from electrical power for several minutes. Plug the player back in and try to eject the tape.

SOURCE: Tapes won't go down, and then eject.

You are more than likely using a pre-recorded tape and a timer programis set to record. If you are trying to record, make sure the protectiontab is in place.

SOURCE: Unit accepted cassette, won't eject

It is likely that either the drive belt has broken or is slipping. Because the unit is still in "play" mode, the mechanism won't let the door open up. If you have not opened up these units before, do not attempt it now. This unit should be taken to an experienced tech for repair. Where are you located?

Where is the eject button on RCA universal remote for DVD?

If eject not clearly marked on your remote it probably does not have the function. You can replace the remote for one that does have the function cheaply. Check packaging to make sure compatible with your equipment.

Rca on vcr is there sopose to be a green light underneath vedio taps wont play

If the unit will accept and load a tape but no picture and only sound works you have either a blocked video head or a bad head.

If it rejects the tape, tears it when you try to eject you have a mechanical problem which in the VCR could mean a bad belt or a drive mechanism problem.

Tape keeps getting ejected

This unit requires the rubber parts to be replaced. The loading sequence is not completing properly. The VCR will eject the tape when the sequence fails as a safety measure to prevent damage to either the VCR or the tape.

Parts cost for this should not be more than $10.

VCR won't accept tapes

VHS VCRs are not being produced in very large quantities any more. You may still be able to find a combo unit DVD/VCR.

The problem may be a belt or gear, or it may be that the tray is damaged. Only a tech can tell you, but there's little point in repairing these. I know Wal-Mart still sells them...

VCR won't take tape

Is it ejecting the tape when you set up for timed record, or any record mode for that matter? If so, check for the presence of the record lockout tab in the tape. If tab is there, machine should accept it. If machine ejects tape with the tab present, then the sensor which detects tab present or absent is probably afoul. this sensor is often a small switch. This tab, by the way, is on the backside of the tape, on the left, looking at the tape from the back.
