I know this is an old Question but the answer related to it is simple.. Check the 2 drive bands underneath the tapedeck loose bands will need changing this was always a common fault on the spectrum + 2
Check your power steering pump fluid. Low fluid cause a whining noise, worse when turning harder. If it hasn't been doing it to long filling it up will solve the problem, then start checking for leaks, there is a reason it was low. if you fill it and i continues to whine , you will have to replace the pump.
My first impression was that the battery hasn't got enough power to run the starter ans supply the computer with the 9 volts necessary to create ignition. When you push start it the battery is supplying enough voltage for the engine to start.
In short you need to service and charge the battery or a new battery.
Hi, any strange noises clicking or buzzin? Have you replaced the lamp, if its been2-4 yrs without replacing it it might be time to do so, If you have replaced it check if power supply its workin properly.
turn the key to acc to listen for the fuel pump, it will be tha lowed buzzin noise on the outside of the car for abt 3 sec, if you hear it then the next step is to check ur fuel injectors,then... the catilatic converter it could be cloged
