No water from door dispenser on my GE model GSS27SGMF refrigerator

Here are a couple of possible problems. Most common one is a defective water inlet valve. It is the plastic assembly at the lower back area where the house water connects to. On dispenser systems it is actually 2 valves in one unit---half lets water in to icemaker---the other half lets water dispense at door. It is electrically operated so if half goes bad , the other half can still work. If bad it needs replaced as a complete unit.
Second possible problem with some GE side by side models is they had problems with the water line in the door going to the dispenser sometime would freeze up. They came out with a heater kit that needs installed in the dispenser area to defrost the water line. Call GE service with your model number and they may be able to tell you if you need that kit installed.

Do you hear a slight buzzing when you try to get water?? If yes, you may have a frozen water line inside the freezer door. GE had some problems with those models. water line frozen in door ge has a repair kit for it

Then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . There is a heater for the water dispensor tube , pt # WR49X10173 , which should keep this from happening again .

We have an Electrolux Wave Touch with the same problem.

Yes, the line is clearly frozen inside the door.
Disconnect waterline at bottom of freezer door and activate solenoid - then you know for sure.

This is most times caused by a defective dual water control valve on the back near floor of the refrigerator. Unplug the two wire connections and check both coils with an ohm meter. The both should read the same amount of resistance. Or set your meter on voltage and place the probes in each side of the plug and have someone press the dispense button. You should show the household voltage at the end of that plug. Sea Breeze

need to call ge at 1800-386-1215 some of these sxs have a door insulation issue that they will either send replacement doors to an authorized service company to exchange at no cost to you or offer a rebate for a newer model. yours might be in this group
have your model and serial number out of the ref located in the refrigerator section, about 4-5 inches from the celing down the right side and call and see

What you describe was a common problem with this model and one that still pops up. Your refrig *might* qualify for an upgrade under terms of a program GE initiated a few years ago. Call 800-432-2737 first it might save you a service call

I fixed mine by leaving the light on the dispenser on. It took about 6 hrs, but the little heat from the light bulb was enough to defrost the water line.
