What do the numbers and symbols on Acer keyboard mean ?

Maybe you need to press the Num lk (number lock) key at the top of the keyboard, then Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit the number key you want..

To type the Euro sign in Windows, you press the alt key+0128. As for the Sterling pound symbol, you can type it by pressing the alt key+0163. You can have a look at this site where it lists ways to type different currency symbols:

Please note that you have to type the 4-digit code on the numeric keypad (do not use the normal number keys) while holding down the Alt key.

hold shift and press the 2 key on the row above the alphabet keys. the extra symbols are there for if you were to set the computer's OS to a different language keyboard

Being Canadian I can assure you that the @ symbol is produced by holding down the shift key and pressing the number 2. This keyboard may have a different setup, or you may need to change your language settings on your computer from Start>Control Panel.
Alternatively, you can open a virtual keyboard from Start>Programs>accessories>accessibilty>virtual keyboard

You can produce the "Degree" sign by doing the following:

• Press and hold the "Alt" button then while holding, press the numbers 0176 then release the "Alt" button. (Alt+0176)

press SHIFT key and the number 2

this means that your number lock is turned on.

there is a Fn key on the board. hold that and look for the number lock key and press it. each system is different so it will be either NumLk, NumLock, or a 1 with a lock symbol. Acer generally places this on a F key many times F7.

For using the extra symbols u have to press shift key along with that key. Understood.

The symbols on the keys represent what will appear on screen

If the symbol is in blue that means you have to press the FN key over on the left side bottom row

Other symbols from the keyboard are typed by using the shift key

You can always buy a keyboard and plug it into the laptop if it proves to difficult
