This means the control panel has been locked and it will have to be unlocked before you can use the dryer. To unlock the control panel; press and release the Option and Select buttons at the same time.

The letters (LOC) indicates Controls are Locked. To avoid having someone accidentally start or stop the washer, press OPTIONS and SELECT at the same time until the Control (Control Lock) indicator is lighted. the controls, press OPTIONS and SELECT at the same time until the Control (Control Lock) indicator goes off.

Kenmore Elite Dryer does not turn on and message light says LOC

https://www.google.com search gives several method to unlock the dryer, depending upon which model you have.

Example of one model dryer:

"To lock the controls between or during cycles, press and hold the Add Steam button for S seconds. LOC

will be displayed if you attempt to wake up a "between

cycle" locked unit and LOC will alternate with

cycle time remaining in a "during cycle" locked unit.

Repeat to unlock the controls when you are ready to operate the dryer. Use this feature to reduce the likelihood of accidental operation by children."

There were several FIXYA questions in the past on this message, depending on the model you own:

I have a code of loc coming on and my dryer wont work how can I fix this issue??

The control panel is locked. on the control panel, there will be either a "lock" button that you hold down for 3-5 seconds to unlock, or it will have "lock" in small letters with a line pointing to 2 of the option buttons. hold the 2 buttons it points to for 3-5 seconds and it will unlock. the control lock is a child safty feature that will not allow any the washer to work until it is unlocked. P.S. to put the control panel into the lock mode, is the same way as you unlock the control panel.

My fridgidaire affinity dryer has loc error and will not let me start it

The control is locked to avoid having someone accidentally start or stop the dryer. Press and hold the Options and Select buttons for 10 seconds or until the "LOC" on the display is cleared. Locking the control is done the same way it is unlocked.

I am trying to use the dryer and an error code of LOC comes on and it won't run

The control is locked. Press and hold the OPTIONS and SELECT button at the same time for 10 seconds or until "LOC" turns off. To lock the control, press and hold OPTIONS and SELECT until "LOC" is displayed. Unplug the machine for at least 30 minutes if pressing and holding the said buttons does not unlock the control to eliminate the possibility of an electronic glitch. The control may need to be replaced if unplugging the dryer still doesn't solve the problem.

Kenmore electric dryer--model 41784092500. When I press the Pause or Start button, all the lights flash and then it reads ''err'' and ''loc''. What does ''loc'' mean. Sears will not tell me. They want to...

LOC means it thinks the control panel is locked.
This gives the ERR indication when you push the buttons.
To unlock it you need to hold down the Options and Select buttons together until it reacts.
