Press delete button during start up to enter its hardware configuration mode, set first boot device as CD ROM, second boot device Hard disc, and set all boot devices to none. Select save and exit option, press OK. Reboot the computer. Check whether it works fine or not. If not, O/S should be re-installed, and you can now put the O/S CD in it CD tray and follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure that the licence key [a 25 character key] is with you, otherwise, you can,t go beyond format option. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

Testimonial: "thank you for your suggestion Gopakumar, but unfortunately this device doesn't have a standard setup (there isn't any list of device where to choose), so I fear that there is no way to gain access to the SO via software. Samsung PC Q1 Ultramobile was something of different than a standard PC tablet: at this point the only way should be to open it and unmount the internal micro-HD, that is what I exactly did, but now I'm not sure if the cable interface is standard to (I mean if it is a mini toshiba or something alike, because I've always played with 2.5 or 3.5")..."

Can not get to wifi

Wi-Fi technology enables wireless Internet and network access through public and private hot spots.

These hot spots are widely located in homes, restaurants, bookstores, coffee shops and other businesses, so you can keep connected wherever you may travel.

To connect to Wi-Fi, you must have an enabled wireless adapter on your computer.

Most modern laptops and many desktops have this adapter built into the system, but many lack such capabilities.

However, a wireless adapter is easily installed via USB, which allows you to connect to available networks through Windows 7.

Enable your wireless adapter. Most laptops have a hot key labeled with a radio antenna.

Hold the "Fn" key and press this key to toggle wireless on or off.

Desktops likely have a physical antenna on the back of your computer that is typically always on. If you don't see such a hot key or antenna, you need to acquire a USB wireless adapter.

Attach the USB wireless adapter to an available USB port on your computer.

Windows 7 will automatically install the necessary drivers for most adapters.

If it does not, insert the CD that came with the USB wireless adapter into your drive and choose to install their drivers.

Restart your computer if you do not see a wireless icon in your Windows 7 notification area.

Click the wireless icon in the Windows 7 notification area and click the network name to which you want to connect.

If this is your home network, the correct network will likely be the one with the strongest signal.

Click "Connect" and enter the wireless security passphrase, if required.

Only secured networks will ask for a passphrase, but some public networks will require browser authentication instead.

Open your browser and navigate to any website.

If the hot spot requires browser authentication, your website request is redirected to an information page.

Follow the instructions on this page to get Wi-Fi.

This may entail clicking "Accept," entering a given password or entering a cell phone number.

After authentication, attempt your website again to verify accessibility.

Hope this helps

Screen went black on startup. only a blinking white line in upper left hand corner

Hi,

Does this problem occur after windows log in page? If yes, a file of your user profile may be corrupted. Try to do a system restore in Safe Mode if you can still access it.

If you're unable to boot to Safe Mode, then you might need to reinstall the operating system.
Let me know if this resolves your issue or not. Thanks.

My acer aspire one kav60 fell and gives the options to start using safe mode,,safe mode with networking,,last known settings that workedq,, ect but restarts once it gets to the windows xp splash screen...

Boot it up in safe mode, then shut it down (start menu, shut down), and start it back up again.. if it still give you that screen then it could mean when you dropped it a piece of hardware (like the wi-fi- card) came loose. You could then pop open (assuming you have no warranty on it) and just pull parts out one by one and re-seating them.

Black screen after windows start. tried to open in safe mode, last known config, and open windows normally, but all result to black screen. tried to reinstall windows xp, but no progress during...

It could be the drive failed, can you boot to BIOS at all? I'd recommend a USB Drive adapter, then pull the drive from the laptop, connect to the adapter and then plug into a working PC USB port (Be sure that PC has good/current antivirus and firewall software and it has been backed up itself). The disk should then come up and look like a regular flash drive. Recover the critical files, then back up onto something like a CD or DVD that is set aside for safe keeping. Now you can be a bit more adventurous - potentially the BIOS settings changed, or the on board battery is dead and needs changing (can be complicated). There are also bootable drive recovery utilities that you can spin onto a CD. But data recovery is always first.

Blue screen. Works ok in safe mode, crashes in normal boot

Startup PC, press F8 at instant of turn on... choose Safe Mode. when you are asked if you want safe desktop or system restore choose restore, when you get to the restore menu, choose a date BEFORE you had problems there may only be one or two to choose from. just follow the instructions and you should be back to working with all that behind you.

Wont open home page

Choose safe mode. If you can't even get into that then you have a serious problem. You'll have to boot with a CD and repair the installation of Windows.

Forgot password

There's a couple things you can do first try this:

1. This one works for some windows computers

Restart your computer and enter safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly while the computer is starting. Once prompted hit safe mode on your screen. Once inside go to Control Panel > User Accounts > and change the password on your account or remove it.

2. This one is if all else fails

If #1 doesn't work you can use this company - www.loginrecovery.com
First download their software off the website and burn it onto a CD using Nero or another CD burning program. They have detailed instructions on the website as well as some free CD burning programs for download. Next Restart the PC and boot to the CD Drive. Next transcribe all the letters and numbers that appear on the screen to a piece of paper. Lastly enter the numbers and letters into the box on their website where you are prompted and they will tell you if the password is hackable. You can choose between free service which is 72 hours or expedited service which is $30 and 10 minutes. I've used them in the past and they work wonders for me!

Toshiba laptop - Tablet with Windows XP

Greetings,
If we had a clarity on the OS you are using it would have been easy. Do not try to change the mode. Shut down the comp and then try to restart, as it starts then tap the F8 key on the keyboard. We'll get the option for Safe mode. If still you do not get through.
Not being sure why you want to goto safe mode you can always use a plug an play external CD ROM. In case the issue is not resolved for safe mode you'll need to repair the Windows.
