Tub faucet (hot side) won't turn off when tight and the shutoff valve won't stop the water either

The original plumbing was replaced with flexhose and hot and cold faucets. They worked fine up until now (not used frequently). The hot side wont turn off completely and even when as tight as it will go. The water shutoff valve didn't turn off the water either!

Thanks so much Mark! I had yet another plumber (and new acquaintance with a big heart) look at it. He replaced the washers and was able to get the water to stop streaming and he will come back (I hope) to replace the valve which is stripped--I've been told the chrome valves are problematic like this. Thanks so much for you response and God Bless you!

Low hot water pressure at mixet tub/shower valve

You have a blockage on the hot water inlet to your shower valve . If all other hot oulets are fine . Take the valve out and check the mixer body for blockage . Or do you have a valve on the hot side that is not fully on .

Hot water at kitchen sink is barely streaming. Hot water in bathroom is full stream.

The most common cause of this problem is a portion of the rubber washer from the shutoff valve at the wall has moved into the hose that connects the faucet to the shutoff valve. Sometimes the rubber piece gets embedded internally in the faucet. If that happens, your only option is to replace the faucet

Turned off water supply toboth hot and cold to change faucet but the hot water side did not turn off continued to run

Shutoff valve is not working - to get around that turn off the main water valve going into the house to replace faucet now and when you decide to replace the valve.

Model19949 DST flexhose to faucet won't lock to water supply Disconnects when hot water is on. I have pushed coonection together as hard as I can but it won't lock up

examine the hose coupling, from the diagram it seems as if there are two slide clips to lock the hose to the faucet, perhaps either they are not engaged, or were already in the 'locked' position when you installed the faucet.

I'm not sure what brands my faucet or handles are.

You can remove the center (Diverter valve) without turning water off, Will need deep well socket. Check the o rings and or washers and replace or take valve to Home depot to match with new. If you can't find one there go to local plumbing supply or ace. I turn hot then cold on and off real Quick while the valve is out just to clear anything that might be in lines. stand to the side or you will get wet! You might want to get new hot and cold valves while your at it just make sure to turn off water at meter before you remove them.

No water flow

Did this unit come with water stops built into the faucet body? Some of the newer faucets have stops built in and they need to be turned on. Also if you aren't going to plumb the hot in, you will need to cap it off but it should run without it unless it has some sort of balance in it. I don't think so though.

Low pressure and flow on hot water side of single handle faucet

It could be one of two problems, one simple, one serious.
  • Easy fix
  1. Turn off hot water angle stop under sink to faucet.
  2. Remove supply line from hot angle stop.
  3. Place end of supply line in a small bucket to catch some water.
  4. Turn on cold water for a couple of seconds and backflush debris from faucet.
  5. Reconnect supply line.
  6. Turn on angle stop and test
  • Complex fix
If you have steel pipes you may be experiencing reduced flow due to corrosion in your pipes. Reduced hot water pressure in the kitchen faucet is usually the first sign since this is the faucet that is most used in the home.

Repiping is a job for a professional. Another symptom you may need a repipe is orange colored or rusty water.
